This four LP box set features some of the best studio recordings by Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings, the ten-piece band that Bill put together after leaving the Rolling Stones in 1992. Whilst the band features guest appearances by all-star musicians (including Mick Taylor, Eric Clapton, Chris Rea, George Harrison, Gary Brooker and Peter Frampton on these recordings), it has an allstar core line-up that features Georgie Fame, Beverley Skeete, Albert Lee, Terry Taylor and Bill Wyman himself of course. For this compilation, Bill Wyman has chosen forty three tracks that showcase the fantastic lead vocals of both Beverley Skeete, perhaps the UK's busiest session singer, and Georgie Fame, a star (and legend) in his own right since 1964 of course. Each singer has two LPs: Georgie's features his renditions of songs by the likes of J.J. Cale, Mose Allison, Dan Hicks, and Bill Wyman & Terry Taylor, while Beverley's features her take on songs by Nellie Lutcher, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, J.B. Lenoir and The Rascals. This box set marks the first appearance of any Rhythm Kings recordings on vinyl. The four LPs are housed in an attractive rigid outer slipcase and the inner sleeves feature all the musician credits.

When the first albums came out the idea of Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings didn't really draw me in, and I didn't get the opportunity to hear any of their music so I just left them unexplored. Then one day I was in a small record shop (all CDs at the time as it happens) that I heard someone asking if the had either of the albums. He really raved about them having been pleasantly surprised when he heard them at a friend's house.I bought the two albums and loved the Beverley Skeete was a revelation and Georgie Fame sounded brilliant. What this collection of brilliant musicians do is play music they love with real joy and everything is so beautifully judged.Having been listening to all the albums these tracks are drawn from on CD and digital I decided to see if any were available on vinyl. I have to say that I was a little unsure about this 4 vinyl disc set. Although the packaging looked well designed I was unsure what the listening experience would be with the songs with Georgie Fame and Beverley Skeete on lead vocals being separated out, part of the beauty of the original albums is the juxtaposition of their songs in the running order. No first listen through I need not have worried the songs sound great, excellent vinyl pressing and the running order of the song works brilliantly

Get this before it goes!
Great VFM - effectively 4 great albums on vinyl for less £23 - I got mine for under £16 (thank you A). Great rhythm and performances from the high quality musicians and vocalists involved. Great repro from the vinyl too. This is 4 vinyl LPs not 3 per the listing - although obvious from the track listings and comes with a boxing enclosure. Fabulous.

a feeling of luxury about this box set. the box, sleeves and high quality records are so classy. the music is superb, great vocals and musicianship on crystal clear vinyl.what could be better?

Watched the price drop and drop until it was less than £21 then pounced. 4 lps of marvellous music played by great musicians supporting two superb vocalists and a signed photo of Bill
