Suction not powerful enough, doesn't catch much more than pet hair, poor design
I've been using this product for about a year, and I haven't been very satisfied. I see that it's not in stock anymore, so maybe not even on the market at all, but I'll give this a try anyway.I needed a small vacuum for an easier, quicker way to clean up crumbs, dirt, and debris from working and having pets, and it really only does a good job of getting rid of some of the pet hair and lightweight dust bunnies. I gave it 3 stars because it's a convenient way to catch stray pet hair, and that's important to me, but it can do little else. It's not powerful enough to do the real job of a vacuum. If what you need it to clean up is even slightly out of reach, where you can't get the mouth directly on top of the debris, it won't be able to catch it. It seems like every tiny thing, other than pet hair, is too heavy for it. Even if it can pick other stuff up, you have to be able to aim well and angle it perfectly, on top of giving it several extra hovers. Don't even bother trying to get little scraps of paper; for example, fallen holes from hole-punching paperwork. It can't pick something up that's flat against the floor and/or, evidently, too heavy.I'm an artist, and the low suction is a problem for me when I'm trying to clean up chalk pastel powder from off of the ledge and caddy on my easel. If you're not familiar with art materials, pastel powder is debris that is very soft, lightweight, and dry, and really shouldn't be a too much for any small vacuum. Sometimes I have other debris from lightweight sculpting materials that I'm able to catch with it because it's on the floor and easier to reach, but I often don't even bother and just use a broom instead. It would even be nice if I could just use it to clean up the remainder of tiny dirt/debris off the floor that I'm unable to collect in a dust pan, but it usually can't even catch that. It's not powerful enough to suck a little layer of dust off of smooth hard surfaces, like a book shelf, either, which seems wrong for a "dust buster." It just leaves lines where its edges drag over the surface, so it's more likely to scratch your wood furniture than it is to clean the dust off of it.This all applies even if you have it fully charged, empty the cartridge often, and keep the whole machine really clean. Emptying and cleaning seem to help, but not enough. I do like the way there's no paper filter or anything like that. It's nice to be able to remove and wash the smaller parts in water, let them air dry, and not worry about damaging the electronics. I would keep that feature. Luckily, it is pretty easy to clean, except for some small crevices around the filter, and the smaller rubber areas, where dust and dirt catch and stick more. It's most reliable if you keep it plugged in all the time (which I don't love, from an energy and safety standpoint). Even if it doesn't have a full charge, it's even less effective, which is why I keep it plugged in. But if that's how you keep it, it won't turn on, because you can't operate it at the same time that it's plugged into the wall. I often only need it in the kitchen, right next to where I keep it, and when the target is within slack of the cord-length from the wall, it would be nice if I didn't have to unplug it (and then plug it back in again to charge). In terms of design, it's kind of annoying because you can't use it without accidentally pressing the flashlight button on and off the whole time you're cleaning, because it's super easy to press down and it's located right above the handle and power button for some reason. It would be better if either the button was harder to press, or if it had maybe been placed on the side instead. I usually don't need the flashlight, and I don't like to use it because I often forget to turn it back off. I turn it on by accident while cleaning in a well-lit area, where you don't notice the light as much, so although I do like having a flashlight feature, I wish the button wasn't in that spot.I know a lot of this is nit-picky, definitely first-world problems, but it's those little details that make it worth buying or not. I guess it's better than nothing? I'm trying to find out how to contact someone to see whether or not mine is defective, and if I can still do anything about it. It has been a while since I purchased it, but these problems have existed ever since I first got it. It costs enough that I would expect it to work better, and if not, I hope that there might be some kind of solution offered through customer service, at least throughout the first year or two of ownership. Thanks for reading, if you made it this far.... I obviously had a little time on my hands this evening...

I purchased this small vacuum for my mom. To replace her bulky vacuum that she hauls up the staircase every time!! The reason I choose this no brand name vs Decker is because the stainless steal filter. My mom washed the filter twice. It’s been fine. Another reason for this choice is I have a similar vacuum for the car and I like it. Right now I am happy that my mom doesn’t have to pull that heavy vacuum to the 2nd floor. And my mom is happy because the light and the extended nose allows her to vacuum hard to get to areas. Both of us are happy with this purchase although we think it’s a bit overpriced. But worth it.
