iBen - Personal USB Air Purifier

I had been in the market for an air purifier because I am concerned about the air I breathe and always was curious about how they perform and if it'd be beneficial. Knowing that we spend a lot of our time indoors especially when sleeping, clean air is important. In addition, since I love travel, some places in the world don't have the best air quality. I was wondering if there'd be a good solution for a travel or compact air purifier. Something that could work in a hotel room. The iBen USB Air purifier seemed like the right suitcase packing size for international travel, since I intend to visit China which has fluctuating pollution and air quality levels.Unboxing the product I noticed that the packaging is predominantly Korean (the product is made in Korea), but it might have been easier if more of it was in English since it is being sold to an English speaking audience. There was an insert from iBen in English as well thankfully describing some basics of the product, and some basic info on the Amazon page. This product is awesomely compact, and the design is nice. Definitely something that could sit on a desk, table, nightstand, etc and not take up much room. I also found it to be fairly quiet (wasn't sure what to expect), and seems like a quiet enough sound I could definitely sleep during.I was curious about the actual performance of the unit, and unfortunately I tried to look online if there is any reasonably priced air particulate matter counter/meter type device, and most of them are 199+, so unfortunately can't do any testing of it yet. However, I did examine the unit under bright light and watched tiny (visible) dust particles in the air get sucked through the back of the unit which naturally doesn't speak much for the ultra fine particles which are microns small. Due to it's small size, I'd imagine it would need to be run awhile to more effectively clean out the air in a room, which is fine by me since it can be connected to various sources of power. This device also extends by pulling it out and can offer fan functionality, but I didn't really get it for that.The air purifier comes with USB cable and plugs into any USB port: I have tested it by plugging it into my laptop, my phone USB charger port that goes into a wall outlet (so it can be powered by an AC outlet), and a USB power bank also works great too (although mileage will vary based on your power bank capacity and how much this purifier uses which doesn't seem like much).After using it for longer, I hope to see what the filter collects over time. I also look forward to see how well it rinses under water during filter cleaning (since these do say they're washable). I read these filters can last a year or so, but one thing I can't seem to find right now is any filter replacements offered from iBen on Amazon? Seems like something really important down the road. I received this product as a discount for the purposes of leaving an unbiased, detailed review. I've had it connected, via USB, to my large computer in my office.Things I like:1. The design is cute. There is no on/off button. Plugging in the USB is sufficient to turn it on. To use it as a filter, pull out the housing a little to expose the filter. Leaving the unit compressed makes the unit operate as a fan.2. The filter looks sufficient.3. The design is small, making the unit unobtrusive on my desktop.4. The breeze from the fan is pleasant, but not sufficient strong to be annoying.Things I Don't LIke:1. The instructions list that the filter should be removed and cleaned periodically, but no directions are given in HOW to remove the filter.2. The instructions also list that the filter should be replaced annually, but there are no indications where to purchase a filter and - as indicated above - how to remove the filter. I honestly have no clue how to get to the filter and I've tried several different ways.I guess I'll run it until the filter needs to be replaced and then retire it.

Cheap product. Packaging was even cheap. NOT Impressed AT all. Item works ok but I am not confident it will last

Quiet. Has a nice look to it. Small & compact. There is no on/off button, u just plug it in. It doesn't produce a lot of air, but for a personal desk fan, it's really all u need. I would have given it 5 stars but I felt the price was too high & I'd like to have the option of having a low/high setting.

Started making noise like a broken machine after 3 month. I don't even use it very long or often. Disappointed.

I use this everyday at work. I've used it both as fan and air cleaner. Seems to work well.

I would just like to say that this little air purifier is just simply wonderful! It sits quietly on my desk blowing cool air my way while I work! Plus I've been coughing a bit lately so having it cleaning the air could really help make that go away! It's small enough to be out of my way plus it's not gaudy to look at while sitting on my desk. If you slide the device open a bit more, more air flows and it goes a little further! I'll definitely be taking this with me when I travel so I can sleep with it next to the bed.I did notice the packaging was mostly Korean writing. Which isn't very helpful to someone who only speaks English. The information on the instruction sheet inside was very understandable and straight forward though. I do wish they included some kind of information in the packaging about how or where to order replacement filters for when you need to replace it.I received this product at a discount for my honest review.

This was way bigger then I expected. Very nice looking on my desk. Would look great anywhere. Can plug in to pc or USB wall plug. Easy to clean and use. This takes out particles in the air for sure. I don't have a spotless house but it's far from dirty either and this got the air fresher an noticeably cleaner day one! Great added to a bathroom or office space. While this was bigger then I thought it will only do smaller rooms. But perfect for office space etc. Almost no sound at all! My kids love the air it puts out as a mini fan.
