Satin Matte Foundation

My main priority is non-toxic when it comes to makeup, and second is full coverage (hello freckles and acne scars.) I struggled finding the right shade for me in many brands, and tried liquids and powders. This powder foundation is not only the most perfect shade for me, but I love the light feel but FULL coverage I can achieve! I am light-fair skinned with pink undertones, and the Cool 3 is the most perfect match for my skin I've ever found. After roughly 2 coats, it almost gives an air-brushed look. I also have highly sensitive, breakout prone skin and this caused no issues. Super happy!

I’ve only used this for a week so take this review with a grain of salt, BUT, I am so impressed with Alima Pure Satin Foundation. For the last five years, I’ve struggled with acne along my jawline. It may been part hormonal acne but I was constantly getting cysts, no matter what time of the month and so, I was slathering my face in nars radiant concealer and sheer glow foundation. Well, finally I stumble upon some blog that recommends Alima Pure because it doesn’t contain bismuth oxychloride. So I buy it on a whim. And within one week of trying it (seriously I bought this foundation five days ago), my skin is the clearest it’s been in a decade. I could honestly cry. I will never stop using this product if these results remain. The color is a perfect match (which is hard for me because I am an extremely pale olive tone) and the texture is great. At first I was like, oh no, I look like a bag of powdered sugar but within an hour, the minerals melt into your skin and blend seamlessly. By the end of the day, it absorbs all my oil so I have way less blackheads and way more natural, beautiful skin. To cover my acne scars (which are now disappearing), I tap a little extra powder onto a brush and press it onto my dark spots. I have been getting compliments on my skin all week. Please, if you struggle with acne, breakouts or bad skin, please try this product. Your life will change!

Love this lightweight foundation that is perfect for sensitive skin.

I bought this after reading the ingredients on my liquid/cream foundation. This is a wonderful alternative to too many chemicals. It should be applied with a brush and goes on like velvet. I love being able to brush it on under my eyes as a coverup. My first order was too dark, but I just ordered the next lighert shade because I loved the formula. It too, was a little too dark, but may be great for summer. My third order was 2 shades lighter than what I first ordered, and is just right. This is a delightful product!

I have super sensitive skin - eczema (dehydrated)/combination skin) and I get cystic acne (which has been improving but still happens more often than I would like). I've been slowly transitioning over to more natural products since my body is becoming more sensitive to things. I was skeptical about getting a powder that is a foundation, but I decided to give it a shot. I like how there are so many options to match your skin tone (because that will make or break how well it covers/looks.) I also loved the description for each production. I thankfully got the perfect shade when I ordered on the first try. I was pleasantly surprised that it actually covered my acne scars/redness (from the cystic acne - which is so hard to do) - better than my concealer. So, I don't need a concealer anymore! I tried different methods of applying and the quantity of which. I find I don't really like putting it completely over my entire face. It looks nice at a normal distance but up close you can totally see the makeup. I found that I like to apply it more as a concealer than a foundation. For those that do not wish to use it as I do, you can build up the coverage. It is fairly easy to do. I would think too many layers might give a cakey look but it does cover nicely to begin with, so maybe 2 layers if you need a medium/full coverage. Again, every face is different so experiment. I use a setting powder but you may or may not need to. I tend to have combo skin so my forehead can get oily. You'll have to experiment. One month in and no bad reactions so far. (I usually need at least 3 months before I can get a reaction so time will tell on that but I don't foresee it happening.) I don't think it clogs my pores (at least not yet) although I'm not caking it all over my face either. Overall, it works well.

I love the product, but it is a very small amount of powder for the money. I would need 2 of these per month.

I found this years ago on a blog about getting rid of acne, and my skin cleared up so quickly after switching to this after a decade of trying ever “noncomedogenic” foundation in the book. The finish is so natural, coverage builds to almost full, and it is fragrance free! Times being what they are, I tried recently to switch to a less expensive alternative and regretted it immediately. HG, worth every penny, please never go out of business.

Sent me the incorrect shade twice in a row. After seeing they've also effectively doubled the price by shrinking the jar and upping the cost, decided to switch to another company after about 15 years of being an Alima customer. Even their foundation samples on their website are an absurd $5 apiece for a dusting of product plus $8 shipping. Love the ingredients and quality, my skin loves it and it perfectly matches my skin tone and looks great, but it's time to move on now that there are real competitors out there.
