Excellent bed, great value, sturdy and good quality

The schematic drawing regarding assembly was somewhat complex. having bought a similar bed many years ago which this was replacing in the event of a family visit as a single was no longer viable. This particular single bed was so simple to assemble as the screw holes were placed smack in the middle of uprights therefore there was not the need to study drawing too deeply. The new small double I purchased had the screw holes & dowel holes off centre on upright legs, it was not easy to note on drawing & if the decision to assemble was wrong then mattress would have not fitted correctly & of course dowels when glued would be unuseable should bed need to be dis-assembled. Another point the mattress supports were individually screwed, whereas previous bed all mattress supports were connected by nylon straps being stapled all along, that bein so it was not necessary to screw every individual cross member just the two ends & centre. However the uniot is sturdy & will undoubtedly last!!!

Only four stars for ease of assembly for the very simple reason that a bed is actually quite a complicated structure so you need to pay attention to the instructions and to what you are doing. But all the pieces were there and it went together exactly as expected. At least it didn’t have us arguing with each other (it’s definitely a two person job). Touches like countersunk screw holes in the slats make a real difference. This is a lovely robust bed that looks nice and, with a good mattress, is very comfortable. Not a criticism at all, but the wood is quite dry, so when you build it, a once over with a good quality wax polish (not a silicon spray) will nourish the wood and give it a nice sheen.

Got this as a spare bed and for a low-use item it is perfectly good. Assembly was quite easy with the instructions being pretty clear. It's reasonably sturdy and looks good, with a decent wood colour and is size appropriate. The comfort of it is really defined by what mattress you use however there are a couple of isses: 1. The back board doesn't extend below the top of the mattress unless you have a really tall mattress, this means that pillows slide down behind it 2. The connection of the very top slat of the back board is very weak. Ours nearly broke with just a little bit too much pressure on the top. Would very much recommend using a couple of wood screws in the posts just behind the slat to stop that happening I'd say it is an occasional use bed rather than an every day one

Good sturdy bed, fairly easy to assemble, and looks good. Very good value for money. The 4ft small double size is perfect for my teenagers bedroom.

It was a little bit awkward to put up because not every single piece of wood is labelled so we had to try and match up pieces using the images given to us and approximate sizes. It is quite strong but it is also quite heavy and awkward trying to manouever when setting up. The positive is that it is extremely robust and can tolerate a couple of knocks as well as support a thick mattress and two adults reasonably well. The design is simple but stylish due to it being primarily made of natural wood. Some of the planks however that go across the bed to support the mattress were a little bit rough. If you have the time and the means it wouldn't hurt to just sand and smoothe over the rough edges. The fixings were all there which is good and they're equally as strong if not moreso than the wood the main bed frame is made from. There is super glue supplied which helps keep the dowels in place and makes the bed even more secure. I'm really happy because I felt super safe sleeping in this bed and that even when leaning on it slightly nothing snapped or broke. It's deceptively strong. It doesn't look strong but when you put the whole frame together it can handle a lot of weight, movement and pressure. You don't have to worry that if you turn over in your sleep one of the planks or the central support will snap or bow out and give way. Even though its got a rustic, natural, simple looking design it fits great in the room with warm colours and other freestanding solid wooden furniture in a standard double bedroom. Other than being slightly awkward to put up due to heaviness, shape, mislabelled or unlabelled parts it's actually great in terms of functionality and design not to mention overal aesthetic appearance if aesthetics of a room are important to you.
