The Dewland Dynasty
I loved this book, which is the third and final book in the series. It’s the story of Erskine “Quill” Dewland, his brother Peter Dewland, and Peter’s betrothed, Gabrielle Jerningham. Although Quill is the eldest son and rightful heir to the Dewland title and fortune, a terrible riding accident had left him with physical limitations. (When we met him in book one, he was basically bedridden.) Neither son wanted to marry, but Quill used his handicap as an excuse to escape his father’s marriage plan. It then fell to Peter to marry Gabrielle, who had been raised in India. What a riot of a storyline! The characters are delightful and very well-developed. I always enjoy Eloisa’s writing, which is full of beautiful words, colorful scenes, crazy incidents, and a lot of humor. I always laugh at the silly names she gives her secondary characters. Although these are the first three books she’s written, I started out with another and began devouring her works.I read and also listened to this series on Audible, which was brilliantly narrated by Susan Duerden. I doubt anyone could have read it better. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to read Regency romance penned by a master author.

Great story for Quill.
I loved that Quill got his own story.Caution spoilers! Gabby was fresh and likeable except for when she absolutely insisted on medicating Quill against his wishes and then foolishly poisoned herself to make a point. This goes against the supporting evidence that had showed until then that she was very intelligent and relatable to women. I didn't like this aspect at all and felt she did not receive enough of a lesson when she woke up from her near death in such a light manner. Also just a note about the spell check correction about "braising" the green baize door. Lol That was a funny minor glitch. Overall an excellent book except at the end I LIVE the way Ms. James fleshes out her characters.

Truly engaging hero and heroine.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I found Gabby to be a wonderful character. I get so very tired of authors constantly making their heroines so incredibly beautiful that men fall over with lust just from looking at them. Gabby was a "real" woman, she had normal flaws but still was comfortable in her own skin. She needed reassurance but was willing to believe another persons evaluations of her charms and intelligence. I found that charming. So many fictional heroines must be told over and over and over and over that they are beautiful, pretty, sweet, desirable, competent, worthwhile. I just get tired of it. She was a woman that I would actually like to have as a friend. For me, the recommendation doesn't come any higher than that.Quill was a little harder to like. He insisted on complete truth from Gabby once she was his wife but did not hesitate to lie to her in order to get what he wanted. Naturally, this was the character flaw that the author wanted us to see him work his way through. I personally think she did a great job of bringing him along slowly in order to make the changes to his personality believable. The information about migraine headaches was woven throughout the plot in a fascinating manner. Also, thank you Ms. James, for not making us suffer through encounters with Gabby's father. He was painted as a very unpleasant character and I had quite enough of him.A very pleasurable read. Highly recommended, especially if you like a heroine who actually could be a real person and not just a work of fiction.

Lies,fools and hypocrites
The book starts out ok but deteriorates about 3/4 of the way through when the protagonists, who are portrayed as rational people suddenly begin to behave totally out of character. They both lied to each other and behave like fools endangering themselves and each other. The hypocrisy comes in as he judges her quite harshly for not being forthright with him when he’s out and out lied to her. From there it went downhill.

good reading
It was an easy read. Yet you could put it down and when you started again you could pick up the story line right away. Hope there will be more books by author

Loved it!
I’ve read almost all of Eloisa James’s books and this is one of my favorites. I love the main characters, especially Gabby. She’s so unapologetically different. The book is smart, sexy, romantic, funny and sweet. Give it a try!

Lovely
The story was well written and the characters were interesting. There were definitely good laughs in this book. I couldn't stop reading and so I read all in one day. I have read many books from Eloisa James and I have to say this is just another wonderful story done by her. I definitely recommend to others to read this book.

She came from India to marry one of two brothers...but neither wished to obey their father...
Although I have read several other books by Eloisa James, this is the first one of the Pleasures Trilogy I have read - or rather it is the 3rd book in the series, but the first I have read! I was a little concerned about reading the last first, but found this was definitely a stand-alone book, with no need to have read the others. The story-line is different, the characterization in enough depth, and the writing, as always, smooth and easy to read. I took to Gabby right away, and didn't need too many chapters to like Quill. The plot involves a young woman being sent back to Britain from India (where she had been born and brought up) so that she could marry one of two brothers, The deal had been brokered by their father, a Viscount, and neither was keen to marry, far less an unseen girl, even though her father was the son of a Duke. There are also two sub-plots which keep the tale interesting.I thoroughly enjoyed the book and had difficulty putting it down, and I will be looking out for the first two in the Trilogy. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys historical/regency romances.

Loved it
Eloisa James at her best. This story just flows from the first word. It captivates you and ties you into the emotions of the main characters until the end. Can't wait for the third in the series.

Good read but not one of Eloisa James' top five
This story starts with a crippled Viscount and his younger brother fighting over who will have to marry the unseen female Gabrielle when she arrives from India. The younger brother loses and is appalled when his fiancé arrives with bad clothes and no social graces. Gabby is an endearing character and the different reactions of the two brothers to her are pretty entertaining.I'm a sucker for well written child characters and there is one in here as well as other intriguing side characters. There is an M rated smut level. The bedroom bouts seem less lascivious because he has a disability. It didn't grip me as much as other books from Eloise James. Maybe now I've read a few the heroine seems a bit same-ish. She is a bouncy spirited good natured woman who feels a bit over endowed. But it was still fun reading anyway.
