When an unannouncced, univited and unwelcome family of fun-loving misfits converge upon a lakeside resort to join their relatives for a summer of relexation, the result is antything but restful in this raucour comedy starring Dan Aykroyd and John Candy. It’s a vacationer’s worst nightmare. As wheeler-dealer Aykroyd, his sexually repressed wife and eerie twins daughters “join”the easygoing Candy and his straight-laced clan for a season of “fun” in the sun. Unfortunately, the only thing these two in-laws have in common is their intense dislike for each other. Soon, it’s brother-in-law against brother-in-law in an uproarious and hilarious fight to the finish to see which one really knows how to enjoy the great outdoors. Daarnaast heeft de legendarische John Hughes de film geschreven. Dit maakt deze film een must have voor elke fan! Chet Ripley (Candy) gaat met zijn gein op vakantie in een natuurgebied, maar dan komen zijn irritante zwager Roman (Aykroyd) en diens vreemde vrouw en kinderen opdagen. Zijn zwager vindt dat het gebied beter als afvaldump kan worden gebruikt. De twee kunnen elkaar niet uitstaan, maar willen dat niet laten merken.

Excellent show.....must see for anyone who loves comedy.
Two of the funniest men to grace the screen. Any 80's children will have seen this. Bought for my daddy as part of a christmas gift. Ordered Wednesday night, arrived friday morning. Day before they said. Excellent service.

A CLASSIC & GREAT BD TRANSFER.
If you love John Candy films or any films with the old Saturday night live guys in you'll love this. I got the bluray copy via Amazon, I was a little worried because it said made in Netherlands but no need to worry. Great transfer and sound, looks like it was made yesterday.Similar comedy to Plains, Trains and Automobiles and Uncle Buck but with Dan Akroid lending excellent support.A classic.

Not Bluray quality
Fantastic film, so funny and showcases the highly talented cast, a real 80s gem, however dont bother with this bluray, just get the DVD. There isnt any special features, not even scene selection, the quality was not of bluray standards, very disappointing.

Spiffing film, terrible transfer quality
A cheesy underrated 1980's comedy rescued by Candy and Ackroyd.Criticism - the transfer to DVD is absoutely terrible (grainy, blacks with artifacts, poor sound).

Great duo
John Candy and Dan Akroyd come together in this great comedy about a the Ripley family whos dad (Candy takes them up to lodges in the woods ehere he had his honeymoon to give his sons the memories he had. But any thoughts of a peaceful holiday cruising the lake and hotdogs are scuppered when his brother in law and the rest of the Craig family turn up in their Merc unexpectedly ans isist intead on ski boats and lobsters. But soon a bear with a grudge forces the mismatched pair to work together to save the family. Also contains a romance and some unrelated jokes.

Super Besetzung. Blöder Film.
Als Kind liebte ich diesen Film und kaufte ihn mir als Erwachsener. Wie sich herausstellen sollte, erwies sich dies für mich als Fehler. Ich fand ihn grauenhaft und habe ihn weiterverkauft.Damit hatte ich nicht gerechnet, da ich ein großer Fan von John Candy und Dan Aykroyd bin.

Super film cult (per me) dove si ride dall'inizio alla fine,tutto il film è sostenuto da due collone quali John candy e Dan aykroyd.L'imballo è il dvd sono arrivati nei tempi indicatomi,al contrario da quanto letto su recensioni prima di acquistarlo c'è anche la lingua italianaed è veramente una bella cosa... (dovrebbero farlo anche con altri film cult)Indicato per chi si vuole godere una serata in spensieratezza e allegria..

Can’t even call this a movie!Can’t understand how anyone can call this a good movie.. maybe fake reviews, I don’t know.WARNING! The DVD I receive looks like a fake copy! The print on the DVD disc and the case is very low quality. Can’t be original.I would only recommend making this purchase so you can tell me later that I’m right about everything I wrote above.

Grande commedia di metà anni '80, uscita in Italia con il titolo "Non è stata una vacanza è stata una guerra". Spassosi mattatori della risata i due protagonisti, versione del film in inglese, ma che contiene al suo interno la lingua ITALIANA!!!!!

Lachen und dabei an Früher denken ^^
Schade, das John Cnady nicht mehr lebt, denn er war ien ganz großer unter den Film-Komödianten (in jeder hinsicht). Den Film hatte ich früher schon auf Video und immer wieder gerne geschaut... heute freue ich mich um so mehr, ihn auf DVD zu haben und zu sehen, dass sich auch meine Kinder genauso kaputt lachen.Ein sehenswerter Film, den man auch öfters anschauen kann, auch wenn man ihn schon in- und auswendig kennt.

Salve . Nonostante non spedito con Amazon Prime è arrivato in poco tempo .IL film è esilarante il più bello che abbia fatto John Candy secondo me . IL titolo in Italiano sarebbe "Non è stata una vacanza ma è stata una guerra ".Un Film davvero comico , consigliato per tutta la famiglia .

Hatte ihn besser in Erinnerung, aber trotzdem ok, dass ich den hier bei Amazon auf DVD kaute.. Mag die 80er und der Film ist ganz okay..

J'adore cette comédie, bien des rires et quelques suspens. Ce serait bien de le remasteriser en blu-ray ! Je met 4 étoiles, car l'image pourrait être plus nette sur une tv actuelle, mais ce film n'est pas disponible en blu-ray.
