All-Weather Metal Portage Pen, Black Barrel, Black Ink .9mm, Fine Point (No. BK17)

The pen is a bit heavy, but it's built like a tank. I've dropped this thing more times than I can count, and it's still good as new. It writes well on everything, but I use it specifically for the Rite in the Rain notepads as my EDC. Great pen (and notepad) if you write a lot and want something that's waterproof.

Really solid all-metal pen (aluminium with steel clip & writing tip) that pushes together satisfyingly to make a short pen that folds out to full size when you want to write. There's something about the action & sound of sliding the pen out and pushing it together to make the full size pen that oozes quality! These guys have really thought the design out. The clip is tough and grips well enough so your pen won't fall out/off. The pen itself has a nice weight to it, and the rite-in-the-rain ink cartridges and tip are reliable as ever. If you're after a field pen that will hold up to being outdoors regularly that you will want to keep forever this is it. Just don't lend it to anyone unless you intend to give it to them!

High-quality pen. After trying almost all the Rite in the rain pens and lost a lot of them over the years I have settled on this one. It fits securely into and onto lots of pocket variants, has a nice weight, and with the cap attaching to the body is long enough when you want to use it. Writes just fine on damp and wax paper (and damp wax paper). All in all, the perfect pen for geocaching.

I was looking for a Space Pen replacement and so far this is easier to write with, is more balanced and IMO looks better.

The pen came with an empty ink cartridge but Rite in the Rain has amazing customer support and they sent me a replacement ink cartridge quickly. Great little EDC pen, solid feel, good weight and writes very smoothly.
