Was shocked and surprised at the same time! Slow beginning but worth it!👍A definite must read book, very eye opening!

My granddaughter was given this book and urged me to get it and read it. It presents the wonders of migration and the reality of extinction of species backdropped against a wonderful story of a young boy and his friends. My mall shopping grandchild loved it and now I'm going to help her find an osprey!

Short chapters and a story that moves at a fast pace. Great for 9-11 year olds who love nature.

This is one of the best books I've read yet, and I have read a lot of books. Of course I was so attached to it I couldn't remove my eyes from it while I was reading. Callum, Iona, and Jeneba are such vivid characters I can picture them. Also since it's a book about birds, I had to read it, once I set my eyes on the book. Very vivid descriptions and amazing story.

Gil Lewis is my 10 yr old daughter’s favorite author. So, she asked for all the books she didn’t have for her birthday- upon receiving this and reading the back cover she loudly declared that she had already read it. I told her it must be a sequel because the title is different and there is no indication that they’re the same book.Well, she was right- it’s the exact same book with a different name & cover art. I’ve never seen this before and it’s pretty frustrating.So- 5 stars for the book; 1 star because they’re re-printing it under a different title = 3 star rating.

I read this book with my fourth grade class and they truly adored it! It is suitable for both girls and boys. The language and vocabulary bounce off the page and I was was delighted to see my students using the colourful vocabulary in their own creative writing. The storyline is charming and covers a range of issues. A fantastic read. I can't recommend it highly enough!

I wanted the book for my grandson and found it easily on your website. It arrived on time for my next visit to him and he was thrilled, rushing to hide it away on his bookshelf before his young brother saw it!!

I am feeling very bereft. I ordered Sky Hawk and it arrived just as I was finishing another book. I started to read and very reluctantly put it down to go to bed. in the morning before I got up. Could not wait to read again that evening. Spaced out the last pages of enjoyment - and suspense - by not reading in the morning or during the day. All day long and ever since I finished I have been haunted by Callum, Iona, Jeneba and Iris. It is strange but the Highland scenery has transposed itself in my mind to my local hills, so when I am out I am on the lookout not only for the birds and animals I am normally watching for, but also an osprey!Gill Lewis is a very clever writer: she has all the right ingredients for children and big children (like me). The characters are all real. The story moves along quickly but you have no idea what is going to happen, except that it will not be plain sailing. You learn a lot about osprey and want to know more. Following the journey on Google Earth - and getting the teacher involved - is a brilliant idea. And linking the Highlands with Gambia was really clever.I just loved this book and it is going to go into my little cupboard of favourite stories to be re-read again and again over the years. Bought for my 11yr old son to read during the summer holidays, and complete a workbook about the story ready to hand in when he started high school. He found it enjoyable to read, so would definitely recommend to others.
