The best aquarium gravel, versatile and good-looking
Bought this for my shrimp tank in midnight mix blue. Its small and gets everywhere but its the best I have used. Its a lovely deep colour and looks great when the tank light's on. I wanted a sea bottom effect that would give the tank a proper under water theme and with real plants and seashell hidey holes for the shrimps i am so pleased with the effect. I have made it an uneven bottom with high points and dips this gravel is great for aquaplaning. It helps the shrimps when looking for food its easier for them to move about. I definitely recommend it. My shrimps recommend it, and I'm chuffed to say the shrimplets do too. I'm positive I saw some teeny weeny ones this morning.

Very pretty!
The gravel didn’t require much rinsing at all. Sometimes you get gravel and it feels like it’s still dirty after four rinses, this one was clean after the first rinse! I still did another couple of rinses just to be sure, but there was hardly any dust and dirt after the first rinse. The purple and whites of the crystals are beautiful, and they’re all roughly the same size. In my tank I mixed them with 4kg of white gravel, and it adds a nice variation. Once they’re in the water, it’s not really easy to see the purples as they’re subtle and not bright. I’ve added some photos of my tank with the lights on and off so you can see how they look. Overall they are great quality and I would buy again!

Kind to bottom dwellers
The rounded pebbles make these kind to fish like Corydoras and they look great spread over black sand.

Value. Lots of white gravel for your money. Easily rinsed.
What a bargain delivered free on Amazon. Enough gravel to cover the base of a tank 60cm x 30cm, approximately 1 inch deep. Nice and white! Easy to rinse the gravel and it didn't take long for water to run clear in a colander. Perfect!

Always great.
I love this brand. I use mostly the white sand and the black gravel. Both are usually very good quality and really clean. Easy to use and rinse off. But the natural sand takes a bit more to clean off. It's good value for money good colours, east to handle size bags and makes your tank look fresh.

looks suave
smaller grain size than i had expected. i wonder how it will act when i use my gravel vacuum for the 1st time, im worried it might get sucked up. looks brilliant - makes the fish and ornaments and plants stand out better. fish poop stands out more than with other types of gravel though, also waste food is more visible, but i suppose this makes it easier to spot to clean up. i bought 2 x's 8kg bags of this to split between my 64 l and 120l interpet fish pod/box. didnt need it all. i advise washing this before use, as it gave off an oily residue when first added to my tank. scooped this from the surface with a mug, even though i did wash it beforehand. i recommend this and will always use black gravel from now on as it just looks so good. UPDATE: it can be sucked part way up the gravel filter, but in a year of use, iv only ever sucked up about 6 grains into my bucket so no big deal, in fact this is a bonus because it cleans the gravel on all sides and shifts all trapped debris. the sinking food is ALWAYS found by the angelfish as it stands out against the gravel, so this is a bonus, rather than it lying around rotting. the fish do ingest the gravel sometimes, but realise and spit it out and are totally fine. set up a planted tank with this gravel. nutrient medium was recommended by aquarists, but the gravel size seems excellent for plant growth, gives good anchorage but lets nutrients surround the roots. just bought another 16kg (2x8) for my newest tank as it is so good.

Generally pleased with a few niggles
Bought this for a new aquarium (no fish in it so far) and after 24 hours not found they effected the water chemistry. I rinsed them before putting them in the tank but still produced a little bit of a dust cloud when submerged. This could be due to me not rinsing them properly as I’m new to this. Most of the stones are a reasonable size but a some of them are small, they got stuck in my food sieve. As for the colour, I got alpine white but found some of the stones have small red marks, this can be seen in the picture. This was a disappointment but not very visible unless you are looking for it. Generally pleased with a few niggles hence the 4 star
