Plextor PX-891SAF 24X SATA DVD/RW
It appears to be well made piece of kit, it has a good solid feel to it. As with all dvd writers, it produces a certain amount of noise when operating but nothing that's excessive. I haven't been able to verify writing speed as yet but it all seems to function very well.

Good and reliable performance. Slightly disappointed to find that many of the Plextor utilities don't work with this drive so it's not possible to put measurements to the quality of performance as was possible in the past.

PLEXTOR DVD DRIVE
I bought this drive to replace a faulty one in my desktop computer.Fitting the unit was quite straightforward and in operation was much quieter than the previous model.The unit has burnt quite a number of discs now with no problems whatsoever.A very good replacement drive.

Bit expensive but compatible with CPBurnerXP.
Works okay but very noisy at high speeds. Compatible with CDBurnerXP. The top speed of the burner is 48X but I found that burns failed at 48X but were successful at 24X. I use Win7 Pro 64-bit so perhaps the software I use was not capable of transferring the data quick enough. At 48X the drive made a lot of noise but was silent at 24X. Reading CDs no problem at all. Win 7 provided all the drivers.

Would no longer recommended
Runs nice and quiet. Good value for money. In my opinion it is far better than the original LG drive which was factory fitted and the HP one I replaced it with. Now an update. Have had this for fourteen months and it won`t read any discs at all. Will never buy Plextor again.

Superb DVD Writer - PLEXTOR Quality
For reading of audio CDs you can't go wrong with a Plextor Optical drive. Yes, they are twice (three times) as expensive as a perfectly adequate DVD drive, the reliability of these drives is superb. I have had about 5 of them over the past 10 years, all are still in perfect working order, and indeed are working away as I type re-ripping my extensive CD collection.

Great drive not had any bad burns so far, very pleased with the performance. The plexutilities software is great, very useful for checking burnt audio cd's for C1 & C2 errors.

Fast and accurate
Bought this after existing drive (LiteOn) was encountering problems reading some disks.Excellent drive - using for ripping my CD collection in conjunction with EAC. The Plextor PX-891SAF provides fast and accurate rips.What more can you ask for?

Good CD/DVD Drive
Was packaged very well, arrived in perfect shape. The drive uses the standard SATA connections, just as easy to install as any other 5.25" device. Came with some software (ImgBurn, CDBurnerXP, & PlexTools) & 5 DVD-Rs, haven't needed to use either yet but they seem fine. I'm not expecting the DVD-Rs to be of the highest quality, but they're a nice bonus and should do the job well enough. If you're planning to put this in your personal computer, definitely spring for the retail version; it's worth the extra few bucks.
