Can you be any happier with a laser printer?
P5021cdwFirst thing. This is a fantastic printer and super quiet. I thought the price was fair in comparison to some of the bigger brand names. It has a super quiet function which is really quiet when in operation. Its quick to start and quick to print. The printer itself is slightly larger than my previous Samsung model and heavier at 21kg. Note: it doesn't come with the USB connection cable and network cable. The power cable supplied has the UK standard plug. The CDW version is wifi enabled (hence the 'W').Print quality and settingsPrint quality is sharp and impressive. Most importantly it has duplex enabled. Which means you will not need to re-feed the paper back into the tray. This was a huge plus for me as my old printer required a manual feed. A previous reviewer advised that when setting the print option make sure to select duplex on 'long side' to enable back to back printing. You can do this on the menu settings itself on the machine or on the printer properties on your computer (go to control panel). I set my print settings using the following:1. duplex long side2. Auto colour3. Eco print (saves toner ink). As it will use less black toner the print quality will be more of a dark gray than black. This wasn't a problem for me as I was printing homework assignments and using it for school work rather than for professional printing. There is a running counter on the machine LCD panel, so you will see how many copies you can print from new toner cartridges.InstallationI really struggled setting this printer up, which is the only downside. I didn't find the supplied user manual to be helpful at all - Kyocera need to rethink this area. Here are the steps for ease;1. If like me your laptop doesn't have a CD drive then borrow a laptop that does and copy the CD contents onto a USB stick.2. Power-up the printer and connect the printer to the laptop/computer using a USB cable.3. Once its detected, Windows will attempt to install the drivers. However, make sure you cancel this straight away.4. Open up the USB stick from 'My computer' and scroll to 'quick launch' (or similar) and start this. Or insert the CD at this stage and click on quick launch.5. The wizard will guide you through the installation process so just follow it.6. Once setup finishes you can print a test page. Also make sure to set your printer options from the printer properties on your computer.WIFIThis model comes with WIFI enabled. Again I really struggled setting this up using the supplied manual so I figured out another way.1. Firstly ensure to turn on the WIFI settings on the printer LCD panel. Scroll through the menu options and find the WIFI option and set to 'on'.2. I decided to try the WPS route first so after enabling it on the printer LCD panel, I then activated it on the router. This did not work for me despite multiple attempts.3. I connected a network cable from the printer to the computer.4. Launch the 'maintenance tools' application from the CD or USB drive5. Follow the wizard on setting up a new WIFI connection using a network cable.6. It will guide you through the steps to find your printer then to enter your wifi router SSID and password. It may ask for a username and password at this stage. Simply enter 'Admin' for both and the installation process should complete. You will also notice that the WIFI light on the printer will now be on.7. Go into the 'control panel, devices and printers' section. Click on 'add new printer' and follow the steps to select your printer from the list. (The printer drivers would have been previously loaded from the CD or USB drive during the first installation).8. This process will install the printer again and you may end up with two Kyocera printer icons displayed (in the 'control panel, devices and printers' section). This didn't cause me any problems but make sure to make this printer as your default one (i.e. the wireless installed printer as your default printer - by right clicking and selecting 'Set As Default Printer').9. Make sure to set the printer options again (duplex on long side and eco-print) if you want (by right clicking and selecting 'Printer Properties').10. Test it. Open up a document and select print. You should see the default printer selected. Send to print and voila.USB functionalityI haven't tested or used this function yet and will probably not need to, but it is a very useful and quick process to print straight from a memory stick instead of powering up a computer.TonerI read somewhere that non OEM toner cartridges (i.e. third party non Kyocera toners) can be used with this printer and performed well enough. At some point I will test this out once I have used up the supplied toners. The printer is supplied with one set of toners.

Great value and quiet Printer. I would buy again!
I have used a few printers at home in my office over many years from the first ink jet and from different, but mainstream manufacturers. Latest one has developed a fault and liked to put yellow everywhere as dust and on the page. So, a new printer was required. This Kyocera was the easiest to setup and use I have ever had the pleasure of doing. It works from multiple PCs in the house without a fight. The drivers can find it easily without the usual fight to get it to be seen on the network (I got quite good at this after the last HP unit). The duplexer is great and a real upgrade for me at home. The ink is expensive, but the deal is the printer is really good value, so you take pick on where to pay for the whole solution. If like me, you don’t print that much then a cheap (good value) printer and expensive ink is better than the alternative. It can print good colour images of photos on plain paper. It is faster than I need or expected, uses less paper as it has duplexer (can print automatically on both sides of the paper). Its quiet in operation and uses very little power especially in sleep mode, so as green as you are likely to get, if printing could ever be considered green at all. The display is small and cheap (great!) I don’t need to see anything except is it on, so a big display is not required. I bought the wired ethernet connect only unit as I have network sockets around the house, so not tried the Wi-Fi capability of these models, I paid around £150 for this and I am very happy with it. Highly recommended for ease of use and quiet operation. I have printed around 200 sheets so far, I will update the review after a few thousand sheets if anything changes. BTW it is sturdy so you may want to get help moving it into position.

Good quality P5021 cdw
This is both my first color laser and after reading good reviews also my first Kyocera, so quality is good, but no previous experience to compare to. It's big and heavy, 30 Kg, so 2 people to unpack. For some reason Kyocera interface does not look very familiar either on the printer's own tiny screen or even to download driver from its website (too technical for most users and no version or date). I was a bit anxious about setting it up, but I am pleased to say that it was smooth and I hope this will help others.Firstly, you should remove all the tapes from the toners, load the paper then switch it on. The printer will start to go through the basic language and couple of other things, remember to choose the option that gives you home install as it will make life easier not going through setup as administrator required for work/office environment. It then gets to setting up the drum which takes 5-7 minutes during which there will be flashing light and message asking you to wait, just be patient. The next thing will be to connect the printer to your wi fi network. This is not the usual scan and select from available SSIDs and enter its password. Instead, there are 2 options to connect by WPS and pushing its button on your router, or using a PIN generated by the printer and entering it into your router's web page. These is done using the printer's own screen and panel. There is also option of wi fi direct, but I didn't use it.After that, You should have downloaded the latest driver from Kyocera's website, I used the top one in their list (kxv4 PCL6XL/XPS) navigate inside its folder to the setup application which will be able to see the printer on your netwok and install the drivers for it, then happy printing. It's only 2 days old, so will update the review if any issues in future. Hope this is helpful.
