In 2015, Ghillie Kettle Co has changed its hard anodising process by removing the dye used to give the dark grey/black appearance. This reasoning for the removal of dye is purely based on environmental grounds and has no effect on the performance of the Ghillie Kettle. However the removal of the dye does lead to slight variance of colour caused by the hard anodizing process. The Ghillie Kettles are still Hard anodized to BS.ISO.1007 and 30-40 microns deep (which complies with British Food standard), but are now silver/grey in colour. Hard Anodized Ghillie Kettles are still guaranteed for 10 years, subject to normal wear and tear; a certificate of conformity is available on request. Very Impressed.
I purchased this set for my husband as a Christmas present as he had been lusting after it for months. The "Ahhh...awesome!" he gave when he opened it says it all really. I have to be honest and admit I hadn't heard of these kettles 6 months ago and would have no idea on comparative items but even I am impressed with this product. The quality of the kettle and the cook kit is fantastic and appears to be worth every penny. After using the kettle whilst fishing, my husband is still very impressed with it. It boils a full kettle worth of water quickly and is light enough to carry with the rest of his fishing gear (the carry bag that comes with it is very helpful and makes for a very smart looking piece of kit). So far he hasn't had chance to use the full cook kit but I'm sure that will change soon, and it looks ideal for camping holidays. Anything that burns appears to work well in this...he now just needs to learn how to use a flint properly.Overall, I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for high quality in a good product.

Excellent quality
I asked the question " does this come with the base support?" There where 2 replys that said yes. I meant the triangular frame that ghillie supply to support the base. It does not come with this support. The base for this kettle is a substantial size and will stand on its own on reasonably flat ground.if the ground is uneven I would recommend the purchase of the frame support. The quality is excellent and big enough for family hikes.

no gas or electric
Tried over 2 weeks camping, did work very well used pine cones, leaves & twigs. Started fires with glasses and magnifying glasscooked soup, toast, bacon, lots of hot water etc.Did need to use oven gloves as handle & chain get hotWould recommend

Backbone of bug out bag
The winter was setting in and it looked like power cuts would be the normal way forward for the year. As a result this set was purchased as a back up to normal cooking (although still not sure how we would have fitted the turkey in it for christmas). In the end was not required, but now forms the backbone of our 72 hour bug out bag, along with emergency rations and supplies from the same supplier.The construction is sturdy and is easy to set up. Would recommend to anyone looking to prepare for likely emergencies or unlikely zombie apocalypse.

A great piece of kit!
I have had great fun with my son using this to make drinks - only in the garden so far, after camping on the lawn! Very fast and efficient at boiling water, and the whistle is a nice touch as it lets you know when the water is ready. I haven't tried the cooking kit yet, and my only criticism would be that the post support fitting on the top of the kettle looks nothing like the picture AND HAS EXTREMELY SHARP EDGES, which we have smoothed off with emery paper.
