Toy fish
Actually used these to place in a flower arrangement for my sons grave. Used metal skewers that I heated up and poked into the fish.

fine details, excellent materials
my great nephew is learning the name of the fish. It may be an angler's collection item but I'm using it for play with my great nephew. The colors are vibrant and the detail so realistic. I recommend them.

Montessori / Continent boxes fish
As a science teacher my biggest issue with plastic figure sets today (like TOOB for example) is that they rarely contain FISH for each environment. Being a science teacher, I often want kids to take out their continent box and then sort animals by type (like fish or mammal) or by reproduction method (like lay eggs or have seeds). However these TOOB sets never had fish to put in the continent boxes. I think the only fish i got were either for the ocean which went in ocean boxes... or a pet goldfish which I put into the Asia box. To be honest, I really wanted things like bluegill, catfish, bass, rainbow trout, salmon, piranha, and a couple really cool fish.... I could not find them anywhere for the size i needed. FINALLY someone put out these toy fish factory collections. This is really a game changer for my teaching. Finally I can have freshwater fish examples!!!! I looked at what future sets are to come... I literally want to buy 75% of the sets. I am concerned that teachers and Montessori teachers do not know of these sets... these are the people that are ultimately going to fund their production. In this set, all the fish are from North America. The striped bass is mostly a marine fish so you could put that in the Atlantic ocean box (if you are doing ocean boxes). Like salmon goes upstream to spawn so technically you could also put the fish in the North America box too. If you buy both boxes available... then the only continents not represented are Europe, Australia, and Antarctica. I am not expecting Antarctica to be represented primarily because we use a lot of ocean creatures in that box. I also am not expecting Australia to be represented in the fish because there is the great barrier reef so we focus a lot on those fish instead. So personally, I just would like ONE native fish from Europe - any fish you want. I also want a Salmon.

Versatile
My son likes to play with these as toys but I originally bought them and used one for the topper of a cake. They were a bit smaller than I thought they were once on the cake. Also the coloring was not what it was supposed to be, so I found them to be a bit pricey for what they are.

Perfect for what I needed
Good quality and just what I needed. They do have a little weight to them so that was good too. I cut a hole in the mouth and put it on my kids fishing pole for yard practice
