Bit of a let down
Not as many activities as anticipated, a bit on the pricey side for what is contained. Useful activities nonetheless.

Highly recommended
Some very useful ideas and a range games for anyone teaching spelling to children. They are easy to adapt and mix and match, depending on the needs of the student.

Practical and Inspiring.
"A failure to help learners move beyond the use of their ears when spelling will lead many into trouble. English spelling must engage the eyes as well as an understanding of word meaning and spelling structure to help the brain register where and why letters appear in the patterns that they do."This is currently my favourite book on teaching spelling and will recommend it to all the teachers I train on spelling CPDs, and on my website. It's a must for all teachers. It's packed with inspirational exercises that can be used for any age group - Sally explains that the teacher should adapt the exercises for the students that you're teaching.I'm a big fan of using memory tricks to help remember and learn spelling and she goes into more detail about this. She says: the storage and recall of spelling memories is all about -hearing, seeing, writing, drawing, deep thinking, emotions all these activities fire neurons in the brain.1. Adopting the role of 'spelling detective' actively promotes thinking and reasoning skills.2, Using memory prompts captures interest and thought.3. Drawing a picture engages the brain in developing strong memory traces.4. Recall spelling through different activities.I bought the Kindle version which went against my better judgement as reference books are rubbish on Kindle, but I liked it so much I've forked out on the hard copy version too.
