Romance rates better than the plot
Emma Thompson as Dr. Diana Redding need I say more? The most prose English actress out there had the most wonderful physical comedy role in her carrear... playing a klux. From the first moment that Emma showed herself in the movie when she literally jumped ontop of the run away freezer and she shouts "Help me! Help me Now!" as she rolls down the ramp and into the lab and Arnold stops the freezer and she falls ontop of him. You knew you had a hit. It was wonderful that she knees him as she is getting to his feet and you can't help but laugh as the strong Arnold gets to his feet holding onto his family jewels with both hands. The romance between Diana and Alex starts off at the convience when they dance. Now everyone knows that Emma is a wonderful dancer in her own right; but the way she handled herself in "Junior" was top notch. Especially when she spies the toliet paper on her shoe. Kicking off her shoe to send it sailing into a plate of salad was simply classic. I loved how Alex bent down and put Diana's shoe back on, total Cinderella moment here folks, I loved Emma's stance as she looked down into Alex's face. I loved it when Diana showed up at Larry's house and she started to talk about how she knew Alex from before and how she had a physical connection to him; her surprise when Alex said it was sexual. Their kissing scene was hilourous especially when she went over the tipped couch. Total great moment when she was leaving the house and she was leaning into Alex's quick kisses; and the purse strap in the door was simply divine. Emma did a wonderful job when Alex finally told her the truth about "Junior", I could feel her pain over the loss of her frozen egg and the loss of her being the one to carry HER own baby. The song morgluge was wondeful although I wish they should more of Emma in it.I loved it when she showed up at the retreat, the setting and the clothes were simply beautiful and I wish they had more time to talk more about what Alex had done to her. I loved it in his private room with Emma at the mirror and her looking at the sleeping Alex. I wish Diana said more to the baby before she left the room. I wish Diana and Larry had more time to fight over his stealing her egg and impregnanting Alex with it. I mean that issue simply had to be addressed more. But I loved it at the clinic when Larry had to kick her out of the delivary room because of the danger; you could see the sheer fear in Emma's eyes. When she was in the waiting room with Angela was simply brillant; what a way to take Diana's mind off of what was going on with Alex and her baby when she had to help Angela with her conactions. I loved the line of Diana's "I have a little girl", usually that's the waiting father's line. I loved it when she was in the room with Alex and her daughter and she got to meet her daughter for the first time. I wish Diana had the chance to hold her child to her in the movie, she never got to hold her child. The romance waits way better than the plot. I was doubtful when I heard that Emma was playing against Aronld; but Aronld surprised me as he did in "Twins" and "Kingteon Cop". Total 10 stars for the romance and 2 1/2 for the plot.

Getting in touch with your feminine side...in a weird way
Okay, Junior has an absolutely unbelievable premise. Get over it. Most movies require a certain "willing suspension of disbelief." Possibly this one requires more than others, but if you can make the leap, it's well worth your time. Arnold Schwarzenegger, nobody's idea of a guy with a feminine side, agrees to use his own body for a human trial of a fertility medicine. When the trial is over, the medicine is proven worthy, but Arnie finds himself unwilling to end the pregnancy. The exact reason is never quite given, but since pregnancy makes him a considerably more likable fellow, than the cold, aloof man he was before, I can deal with that. The shoe in the machine is Emma Thompson, another scientific researcher who is such a klutz it's amazing she's allowed anywhere near expensive scientific equipment. It seems the egg taken for the fertility experiment belonged to her and was taken without her consent, so Arnie is carrying Emma's baby. Complicating everyone's life further is that Danny DeVito (Schwarzenegger's research partner) learns his ex-wife is pregnant after a one-night stand with one of the staff members of the Aerosmith band, and she wants her ex to deliver the baby. Schwarzenegger and the ex get cozy as "girlfriends"--binge eating, comparing belly sizes--while Arnie starts falling for the likable, if dangerous, Thompson. And Frank Langella, who seems to have found is true calling in life as a villain, makes a great one in this as he decides to get rich and famous by taking over the research project AND Arnie. (Spoiler alert--it ain't gonna happen, Frankie.)This is a warm, somewhat corny but very fun movie about role reversal and its effect on two men, two women, and two babies. I've watched it probably a dozen times over the last 20 years, and it's still fun. It's also a testament to Danny DeVito's acting ability. Rather like Christopher Reeve's "you'll believe a man can fly," DeVito and Schwarzenegger will make you believe a man can have a baby.

Amazingly funny movie that every man and woman should watch.
I LOVE, LOVE, Love this one. What women wouldn't love to see a man go through pregnancy and child birth. I don't know a single one who wouldn't pay for that luxury.Dr. Alex Hesse (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and Dr. Larry Arbogast (Danny DeVito) are trying to create a drug that will help women who have a history of miscarriage safely carry a baby to term. When their funding is cut, Dr. Diana Reddin (Emma Thompson), who is working on a project that involves freezing eggs, is given their lab and funding. She graciously offers to share the lab and cost of supplies with them, so they don't have to quit working. When things go south, they come up with the brilliant idea to impregnate Alex with a baby. Unbeknownst to Alex and Diana, the baby that Alex carries is his and Diana's biological child. Larry stole a tube of eggs from Diana's lab, not realizing until later that they were actually hers. What takes place after is a roller coaster ride of laughs. This one is a movie that will never get old no matter how many times I watch it.

Doesn't keep its place.
It's a great picture quality but doesn't have a menu, and will not stay at the place left at. It always goes back to the begging.

Watchable but only just, 2 1/2 stars
I'm feeling generous, I'll give what is really a 2 1/2 star film 3 stars instead of 2. Out of the 3 comedies Arnie's done (I do not count Jingle all the Way as comedy, despite what others may think) this is the one I like least. Twins is my favourite and the first half of Kindergarten Cop is great. This is a one joke film which manages to be watchable mainly thanks to the like ability of its leads, minus Emma Thompson who is just annoying (I do like her in most other films).

Men having babies - lol
It is really crazy but it works - well I think so! Both Arnold and Danny play great parts and how the romance between Arnold and Emma is lovely - with a lot of mishaps on the way - Quarky also describes this mad film! Good one for all the family!
