This is one of my favourite papers. It has a rough surface on one side of the sheet (which is less rough than many other brands rough papars, being a grainy surface rather than heavily texured) and a matte (not) surface on the other. So you can paint on both with a choice of surface.It is soft-sized so is absorbent and happily copes with a lot of wet washes and dries flat afterwards.But like all soft sized papers does not accept masking fluid or tape without tearing-for that you want a hard sized paper eg Arches. Use clips to keep it on a board, not tape.I love it as I paint wetly, , often mixing pigments on the paper and watching them mingle unpredictably, then adding details after these have dried and finds it suits my loose style perfectly.
