Thought for the price it was worth the gamble of all the bad reviews vs buying a new kindle and glad I did! I installed it easily and immediately charged it up before powering on. (it powered itself on at first but I turned it back off) I have so far had no problem and it appears that the battery lasts like the original one from amazon. I have had it stored in my travel bag for many weeks without use and it still showed a full charge so I am very happy that it is working like I had hoped it would so far. If something changes I'll update my review but hopefully that won't be necessary.

I fished out my old kindle keyboard for convenient reading at work and the battery was dead, bloated like crazy! As to be expected after sitting with no use for nearly 10 years. Hardest part of the replacement was getting the back off, but with a little time I got it loose and we’re all set! Been using it for a few months and I’ve got bo complaints

I haven't used my kindle in a long time, but wanted to bring it on vacation so I could read near the pool. So, I attempted to charge it only to find out it would no longer hold a charge. I picked this battery kit because it was one of the cheapest options and had decent reviews. I was able to quickly install it (I had opened the kindle case prior to receiving the battery so I didn't use the included tool) and my kindle has been working great ever since. I had to charge it a couple weeks ago before vacation and I haven't charged it since even though I use it every day for at least 30 minutes at a time. Last night I checked it and it was still above 75% full. Excellent choice if you are still using your kindle!Note: My review is based on only having it a few weeks. If my opinion changes I will update this review.

Did not hold a charge, did not accept a charge after 48 hours.

Everyone should know by now that buying replacement knock-off batteries on Amazon is a crapshoot. They tend to have exaggerated mAh capacities, sold as "new", don't have the same battery cell longevity, bad or missing safety protection, etc. Usually it's an acceptable tradeoff as the battery still works well enough at a far cheaper price.In this case, as some other reviews mentioned, this battery weighs far less than the original one which already indicates the battery capacity is suspect. The original battery weighs 1.8 oz. This battery weighs 1.4 oz.There is no date code on the label to indicate when the battery was manufactured (or remanufactured)The plastic pry tool that comes with this is pure garbage - just throw it away and use something else. It's not sturdy enough to actually pry open the back and will just disintegrate. I used a pry tool from my own tool kit.That said, the battery is working so far. It's only been 2 days so I can't give a better review of usage time but I'll update if it's significantly worse.

Fit perfectly and took a charge with no problems.

My wife's Kindle 3rd Gen from 2010 was in a box in the garage for the last 10 years. She found it while sorting through some stuff and wanted to use it again but the battery was dead.I tried another battery before this one but it didn't work so I returned it and then got this one, which seems to be working well. Installation was easy, and I used the pry tool and philips screwdriver that came with it.Once i plugged it in, the charge light came on and it was fully charged within an hour.I will update with any info about battery life.

I purchased this to replace a completely dead battery pack in a very old (2010) Kindle. The first thing I noticed was the signficant difference in weight between the Amazon branded OEM battery. I don't have a precise scale to measure weights but I would estimate the replacement battery weighs about half as much as the original battery. It charged as expected but the run time is roughly 1-2 days with very light use (1-2 total hours). I gave it 3 stars because the battery did bring the Kindle back to life but only having 1-2 days before the battery is completely dead, is not really acceptable.Update:I decided to retest the the capacity of this battery. To try and extend the battery run time, I turned off Wi-Fi and still could only get 1-2 days of battery life. On a whim, I ordered a replacement battery from a different vendor (not Amazon). The first thing I noticed was the weight of this battery more closely matched the original battery. After installing this second replacement, I turned Wi-Fi back on and started to use the Kindle normally (1-2 hours per day with Wi-Fi and Whispersync on). After 3 days, the battery indicator is still above 50%. This is more in line with how I expected a replacement battery to operate.Due to the capacity increase with the new replacement battery, I have decided to return the original replacement battery.
