Under neon lonliness
Rose Brik's "My Father's Eyes, My Mother's Rage" is a heartbreaker of a ride; the exploration of the complexities of trauma, identity, and resilience. My copy has not left my side since I first picked it up back in the dark days of January. Through her eloquent writing, Brik captures the raw emotion of her experiences, inviting readers to confront complicated layers of human vulnerability and ideas about family. If you look into the abyss…I am still struck by the sheer beauty of Brik's storytelling on every re-read. Her ability to articulate the profound, often brutal effects of trauma is insightful and impactful. In my own work as a child protection social worker, I have often referenced this work with my team and students during university lectures.Thank you so much Rose, for sharing your journey 🙏💜

Just wow!
I bought this book after seeing several posts on social media of some of the poems in the book. After some research I found the Author and bought the book, and I’m so pleased I did.Personally the book has many extremely relatable emotions and it hits. But so beautifully written, so powerful and heartbreaking. The book itself is beautiful, one I will treasure always.Thank you Rose, this has helped me so much for realising I am not alone with these feelings and rawness.

such a beautifully tragic book. been meaning to buy this for awhile and finally did and i’m soo glad i have. helps me feel seen, heard and also shows me im not alone in what i feel. it’s written perfectly, says exactly what i can’t get out. if you’ve had trouble with your parents/upbringing this is definitely the book to bring you some sort of comfort… sad at most times but yet so powerful because of it. definitely will be looking into more books by this author/poet x

Difficult parental relationship
I found this book after coming across the author on Instagram. Each page voiced so much of the difficult relationship I have experienced with both my birth parents, I honestly could've lived in the same house as the author it felt that close. The lay out of the book is written so you start off with poems dedictaed to the mother relationship, then father, partner and then her children. It's well written, well laid out and helps you feel understood if this is something you have struggled or experienced too.

Moving and important 🥺⭐️
Rose’s words bring visibility, validation and light to experiences and feelings so often hidden from view. The experience of children being hurt, neglected, dismissed and starved of the love, care and protection that all children need is so often internalised and the effect of this related trauma felt for a lifetime. Rose shines a light on this and in doing so, I hope brings hope and relief and accuracy about where things went wrong, in those that failed to love, care and protect the child. Thank you Rose. I am sure your words will help in strengthening allies and healing those who were harmed. 😌

Broke my heart and healed it all at once
I'm not quite sure I can put into words how this book made me feel, but I have to try, because I need anyone who has tolerated or is struggling with a narcissistic or cruel parental/romantic relationship to read this book. This words of this incredibly strong and brave woman have resonated so deeply within me in a way I never thought anything ever could, to the extent I can confidently say that this book has helped me take a huge leap in my own recovery. I believe a huge portion of abuse victims go through life feeling exceptionally lonely in the sense that they feel as if nobody could ever understand what they've been through, or felt, or thought, and they are too ashamed to share their experiences. If you are one of these people, please read this book. It has broken me down, and rebuilt me all at once. Trained professionals have, on many occasions, offered me advice and suggested coping mechanisms, but reading the words from this book have healed me in a way nobody ever could. Can't wait to see more from Rose, what an exceptional person.
