The Art of Painting in Acrylic: Master techniques for painting stunning works of art in acrylic-step by step: 1 (Collector's Series)
S**J
Step by step guide with loads of pictures but assumes some knowledge
Bought as a present but seems like a good book with a brief introduction on basics followed by chapters on painting different subjects (still life, animals, portraits etc). A good companion to practically follow the steps in each section but perhaps not so useful to read without also doing. Loads of pictures throughout illustrate the different steps but assume a bit that you know how to do that step.

Highly recommended
This is a great book with a number of contributing artists and plenty of projects to have a go at. Worth the money.

Massive disappointment
I haven't painted with acrylic for over 30 years, so really needed a quick refresher on techniques. A lot has changed in this time, especially with all the new types of paint, mixers, mediums etc.'Master techniques' you will not from this book. There are too many step-by-step tutorials which teach you nothing, except how to copy someone else's work.If that's what you want from a book, then go for it. It's not what I want. The contributing artists are not people who's style I like or would want to learn from. The only section that showed promise was that by Michael hallinan on painting people, but that was only a tiny part of this publication and was again, just step by step tutorials. This is not the book I had hoped it would be.
