Great, engaging, and succinct
What I appreciated most about this book is how it already knows that I am brand new to the surgery world and tries to orient me to the basics that I am too embarrassed to ask on my rotation. The rest of the book is surgical tools, medical conditions, and surgical procedures for general surgery as well as surgical subspecialties. The format is not like a typical textbook; it is separated in 2 columns, with a question on the left, and the answer on the right, that are both short, sweet, and to the point. It contains triads, pentads and triangles that you definitely need to know! (though, my preceptor thought otherwise on the author's version of the Triangle of Callot). Also the smaller size makes it easy to carry around in my coat pocket.

HIGHLY SUGGEST DURING SURGERY ROTATION!
This book saved my a** on my surgery clinical rotation in MS3. I am interested in pursuing surgery for residency, so I definitely wanted to impress the attendings and residents during rounds and in the OR. This book gives you practically all the information you will need for pimping questions. Keep it in your white coat or backpack and look over the relevant chapter before a case - thank me later. I definitely received better evaluations because of this book.

Great book but amazon should work on packaging
The item itself is fantastic and will be very helpful for my surgical rotation! My issue is with the packaging it came in. Ordered a vacuum along with this book and it came folded weird at the bottom of the box. Not really that big of a deal but still irritating.

Perfect for pimp questions!
I felt this was super easy to have in my whitecoat pocket to prepare for surgeries. There were even a few cases that I had less than an hour to "prep" for and there were 2 separate instances where the attend was visibly impressed (even behind the surgical mask, haha!) Definitely recommend for any medical student rotating through surgery to a) answer pimp questions and b) get a general gist of what the important parts of common surgeries are.

Good way to prepare for and reference during general surgery rotation
I am a PA student who got this book to utilize during my surgery rotation. I reviewed it a few weeks prior to the rotation and referenced it a few times during! I did find it covered a good amount of the questions my preceptor pimped me on. Will now pass this onto a classmate to use doing there rotation!

best reference book for surgical medicine
This book has everything I need to know for my surgical medicine class in a condensed and easy to find layout. My instructor recommended this book to us and said it would be useful for years to come. The seller shipped it quickly, I got it in one day, and it arrived in perfect condition.

A good new version
A good new edition to the series. At first the book seems thinner - it is, but only because the vignettes at the end of the book have been removed in this edition. The only other omission is a brief History section (chapter 5 in edition 7).Improvements: this new edition is in color. For a book that is all about quick recall, that seems to be a good feature.
