Lee Evans: Xl Tour - Live [DVD]

I never heard of Lee Evans until early this year when I found out he would be appearing in the Doctor Who special Planet Of The Dead. Sounded like his casting was considered "odd" so I checked him out on You Tube. I found him to be absolutely hilarious! I'm from Massachusetts in the USA, and I was disappointed to find that no DVDs of Lee were available here.In September I bought an IView 1800HD Upconverting Multi-Region DVD player with an included HDMI cable (from Amazon.com, so here's a positive plug for another of their products!), so I decided to take a chance that a British disk would work (I was skeptical until I actually saw it play) and ordered the XL Tour. I was quite elated when it arrived from overseas in just over a week! The disk played flawlessly and the image and sound quality is excellent. I haven't laughed so hard in ages!I have watched it 3 times already and Lee Evans gets funnier every time. He is a master at observational humor and an incredible physical comedian. His facial expressions alone are enough to make you laugh! He says a bit too many F-words throughout the set, but like Lewis Black, it works in the context of what he's doing. And he's also quite sweet and disarming too, you really feel his frustration when he explains the absurdity of the situation. There is a little bit lost in translation for me with the British accent and euphemisms, but overall this disk is great. I'm having all my friends watch it, as Lee Evans is unknown in the US. I have already ordered more of his disks for Christmas and I can't wait!

I have to say that I've always been a Lee Evans fan but he has excelled himself this time. From the first moment I saw "Bohemian Rapsody" and had to pause it so many times as I was crying with laughter, I knew this was my kind of comic!Evans is a wonderful (if not rather sweaty) professional who looks at everyday news and events and makes you see it in a different light.Without giving too much away for anyone who hasn't see the DVD, I am one of those unfortunate people with a nut allergy and an adrenalin epipen...I also often eat most (if not all) of a fresh and warm french stick at my local supermarket with my daughter whilst we are shopping and pay for either an empty wrapper or a half-eaten loaf...I often wondered who newscasters are muttering too when muted at the end of the bulletin when they shuffle their papers and Evans is right, you never see a brick layer do that! As for nylon carpets and turning a light on...I'll leave that to you. Most of that is in the first 30 minutes of the DVD!There is swearing. It is quite a bit but you tend not to really notice it after a while if you're listening to the topics he is discussing. Don't let the language issue put you off - we've all heard worse in a pub on a Friday night!If you enjoy comedy that is current, topical (but not so 'current' that it's not funny in a month's time) and right on your doorstep, with a professional with a million faces and body movements to match, Evans XL Tour is for you.

I have most of Lee Evans's live dvds and sketches, but this by far has to be my favorite one he has done. This one is quite old and i listened to it when my cousin had told me about him. I then went out to get this dvd as she said it was brilliant and from then on i have listened to this dvd pretty much most weekends, the disk is even scratched so i brought another one off amazon, if you havent seen this one yet of Lee Evans then you are missing out!!!!

Good quick delivery and looks good haven't used it yet but I'm very pleased with the product so far

10 years on and Lee Evans still has me in stitches. This tour, like all others before and since is in his usual high octane verbal outpouring of quips and stories of his day to day observations that never fail to cheer me up. It is such a shame that he is now retiring.Video and audio quality re very good for DVD and this is currently priced at £3, which is an absolute bargain

This was bought as a Christmas gift for a big Lee Evans fan.. We had originally see it on TV and found by buying this, there was a LOT missing from the actual perfomance. Lee Evans, was non stop gags and his usually hyper sweaty self'Absolutely loved this and felt a little 'choked' at the end of the DVD when he sang about Wales. (The dancing Elvis Presleys we a great ending!)Recommended..
