The Professionals:The Complete Series [DVD]

Brilliant Series - it stands the test of time
This is a fantastic series, well written and well acted by its intelligent and charismatic leads. This series really captures the soul of British culture and it’s a delight to watch. Some of the attitudes are outdated, but the majority of this series really stands up well today. Some outdated attitudes notwithstanding, the series feels like it could have been filmed this year, let alone over 40 years ago. It’s frightening when you see an older Martin Shaw now - makes you realise how fast time goes.No review would’ve complete without mentioning the fabulous, charismatic and iconic Lewis Collins. He brings the programme to life and really inhabits Bodies as a character. He became a global TV icon in this role. It’s inexplicable why we didn’t see much much more of him after The Professionals; he was a good actor (with a lot of rangenot displayed in The Professionals a he could sing, dance, play several instruments, was a soldier in the British army, a writer..... the list is endless! He left us too soon and is very much missed.Buy this programme; you won’t regret it!

A must for any "Professionals" fan!
Received this DVD collection this morning! Very pleased to obtain it. Picture quality is clear, and there are subtitles, which is extremely helpful to me, as I am HOH, and wear hearing aids! I have been looking out for this for years, and have seen them in the past, but with very high prices, no subtitles, and no extras! I am pleased to say that having looked through the DVD, and tested all 22 DVD's, I am very pleased! Obviously, I haven't seen them all fully yet, but I can assure you I will! We see a very young Martin Shaw (Doyle), the late Lewis Collins (Bodie), and the late Gordon Jackson (Cowley) in this series. There are so many unexpected extras in DVD Collection, and some stuff which has never been shown before. The new technology has improved things, and the quality is clearer now than it was when the Professionals first came out!I remember "The Professionals" when it was first aired on TV. (I am almost 56). It harks back to a much rougher era with no mobiles, no computers, and more respect for the law! I think anyone who remembers "The Professionals" should definitely try and obtain it. All the episodes are there, and like Sykes" (which I have) it is well worth paying the price for it. Well done Network!

Great series.
Great series, and the set is great to have ! Nostalgic look at Martin Shaw and the late Lewis Collins as Doyle and Bodie, fighting and shooting their way through some excellent stories, backed of course by the late Gordon Jackson as Major Cowley. The set includes the episode "Klansmen" not screened at the time because it was thought that the content might have upset some viewers. London's almost empty streets made the epic car chases thrilling to watch, and the characters managed to do without mobile phones ! The series is a credit to all involved in its' making.

Nice to have this box set again
Bought this a second time, as I took the first one to charity, because I moved and had to downsize on so many things. Think I overdid it!
