It’s a great tool for me to have to check the thickness in my work so I know if I have to apply another pass. Great product for the affordable price, easy to use and fit comfortably in my pocket. Excited i made this purchase now and for future jobs.

I was pretty excited to get this gauge - I'm in the middle of a large curved aluminum painting project and I thought this would be a great way to verify my film thickness and uniformity. The gauge comes with a set of calibration pieces and a calibration procedure in the instructions which is recommended to be done before the first use. Unfortunately the calibration procedure is pretty poorly written and I have tried several times to get it even into calibration mode without success. I know it's not calibrated, but I figured I could at least get an idea of it's consistency by checking it on an bare piece of metal. I can get the probe onto my cast-iron brake disks on my car, so I tried that. Over several measurements I ended up at roughly 2 +/- 0.5mm. Hopefully once I stumble across how to calibrate it both the accuracy and precision issues will get better.
