Perfect For Making Homemade Black Pasta
I fell in love with fresh black squid ink pasta when I first visited Venice, but in the U.S., I can only find the dried version. I decided to try this to make my own fresh black spaghetti -- and the pasta not only tasted great but looked dramatic on the plate. I tossed mine with grape tomato compote (recipe from the NY Times) and jumbo lump crabmeat. The version I had in Venice used lobster, but that's more difficult and more expensive than even premium crab. You don't need to use much. My pasta recipe called for 1 tsp. per 250 grams of flour -- I added a little more. The flavor is a little briny but not fishy, although it smells stronger in the jar. It ends up being a mild, almost delicate taste with some saltiness.Since it's not clear to me how long the ink will last in the refrigerator, I made several batches of pasta and froze some of it. The jar says that it will last until the expiration date, but since that's over a year from now, I don't trust it. Instead, I plan to use as much as I can over the next two weeks. All the Culinary Adventures
This squid ink gives me the ability to be super creative in the kitchen! We make our own pasta, so squid ink pasta was a hit. We make our own pizza, black pizza was also a hit. We have yet to bake with this, but it will be happening in the near future! This doesn't really alter the taste of the dish so it's a great option to add a little extra to the plate. The serving is about 5g of ink mixed into the dish per 100g of food. This will last a couple more meals. I prefer the jar instead of the individual packets, cuts down on our waste.

Easy to use
A little goes a long way. It's a great product for coloring pasta.
