welded to the body seems like it may prove to be delicate in time
It's okay. Screwing the top to the bottom can be problematic and leaks a little. The handle, welded to the body seems like it may prove to be delicate in time. The coffee tastes good though.

Bought as a replacement - gone back to the old one!
OK, it looks nice. But that's all I'm going to give it a star for.My previous coffee maker was starting to look a bit sad through daily use, and the GAT looked so attractive, I thought I'd treat myself.Big mistake.Every time I wanted to make myself a jug of coffee I'd take a deep breath and carefully place the top on the bottom and start screwing it into place, trying not to cross-thread it. (This morning it took me 5 attempts). And when it does get screwing, there's a horrible grating sound at the last couple of twists, (quiet I grant you, but it sounds and feels like fingernails on a chalkboard) like two pieces of slightly under-machined metal meeting. (I've tried WD40 and lithium grease. No change). That makes doing that last important turn to ensure a good seal not easy, requiring more effort than it should. I want smooth all the way - like my coffee.Once you've overcome that little glitch, you can put it on the stove top, where it takes a delight in blowing off steam through the valve unless you watch it like a hawk. As I said at the start, I've used a stovetop pot on my induction hob for years without this problem, so it's not me...Picking it up from the stove, you feel how flimsy the handle is. It's OK for now, but how long will it last with daily use? Not convinced that it will stand the test of time.Went back to using my old one this morning and it was like we'd never been apart. The GAT will replace it on the shelf. looking pretty, never to be used again. It made good coffee though. Probably the brand I use.

Coffee with style
This is a very stylish looking coffee pot. The wide base makes it stable on my gas hob. However, I would not describe it as a six cup coffee maker. It barely does two large cups. Also the design means that there is a thin well on the inside of the top part that is difficult to clean. Nevertheless, it is a good looking functional device which I am happy to have bought.
