Three films by visionary Chilean director Alejandro Jodorowsky. In 'El Topo' (1971), gunslinger El Topo (Jodorowsky) travels the desert with his seven-year-old son. When they come across the scene of a massacre, one of the dying victims tells them that the gang responsible are led by a man known as the Colonel. El Topo sets out to exact vengeance, liberating the Colonel's wife in the process. She then challenges El Topo to prove his mettle by taking on the four masters of the desert. 'Holy Mountain' (1973) is an epic hallucination filled with weirdness and wonder. The story centres on a thief who joins a group of people who plan to storm The Holy Mountain and steal the secret of eternal life... In 'Fando y Lis' (1968), based on Jodorowsky's memories of a play by surrealist Fernando Arrabal, Fando (Sergio Kleiner) and his partially paralysed lover Lis (Diana Mariscal) search for the mythical city of Tar.

Almost perfect.
This is a beautiful set, it contains Holy Mountain, El Topo, Fando Y Lis and a short film by Alejandro. It also contains two soundtrack CD's, one for Holy Mountain and one for El Topo as well as some great documentaries. Holy Mountain and El Topo both come with deleted scenes and feature-length commentary; there are also some beautiful art cards included in the box. The only thing this set is missing is Santa Sangre. It's a shame because Santa Sangre is a masterpiece; I assume Tartan couldn't get the rights to it, or some other legal matter prevented it from being included.So basically this set is essential to any fan of Jodorowsky, but the lack of Santa Sangre makes it feel somewhat incomplete. There is a region free version of Santa Sangre available from Severin Films, should you wish to complete the great Jodorowsky Quadrilogy. It should also be noted that Fando Y Lis was thought to be lost for 30 years and was only recently (relative to the set's release) discovered and added to the boxset.

The information in the Amazon listing is unclear regarding the languages on these DVDs. superb boxset
This really is a superb collection. The films are beautifully restored and the package design is very pretty and stylish.It's a 100% must-have for any Jodorowsky fan. 5 stars.

Languages not as described
Great films, but the film I bought this box set for; El Topo, isn't actually in English..... :(Looks like i will have to learn Italian or Spanish then...

Holy Mountain
I bought this box set, not expecting that the movie versions of my two main interests had been restored.I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the refurbishment of Holy Mountain and El Topo.Included in the box set are the music soundtrack CDs of the films Holy Mountain and El Too, DVD's of both films, and an interview/mini-documentary with Jodorowsky featuring some key figures of the Panic movement and three very cool postcards.If you are a fan of Alejandro Jodorowsky I think this box set is good value.

Buon prodotto consigliato agli appassionati, cultori o semplicemente nuovi conoscitori incuriositi del poliedrico registra.Le edizioni sono curatissime, per ogni titolo, apposito libretto con descrizione e recensione.Per ogni film contenuti extra validi, o se non'altro, il solo commento alle scene dello stesso Hodorowsky è di per se meritevole almeno quanto la visione dei film stessi.Non il massimo però, la rarovideo, poteva risparmiare il quarto titolo (non diretto da Jodorowsky) a favore di Santa Sangre, o al più di altri titoli della filmografia del regista, per farne un cofanetto più completo e nutrito, magari anche sacrificando Fando y Lies, che a mio parere, per quanto "importante" non è proprio un bel film.
