Essential for home-ground grains
This attachment for the mixer I already possess is perfect. Once any grain is ground into flour, it will become rancid in about two days flat, which is why store-bought flours are tainted with so many chemicals to preserve them. I have hand-turned grain-mills, for making breads during prolonged power outages, but it is a bit tiring, and it takes a lot longer. With this attachment, determine how much flour you need, grind grain for that amount, and bake it same day. Grains keep their nutrition and freshness months (or years) longer than any flour, plus whatever you bake with the home-ground grains will offer every bit of natural nutrition, unlike store-flours that sift and discard so much of the grain.

Started failing on my second use
I really wanted this product to work but it It started to fail after its second use and it doesn't really grind very fine. The inside of the mill is made of iron but the outside, parts despite being made of good quality plastic, is not strong enough to grind properly.

Not good for making flour.
I had high hopes for this mill attachment. Sadly, my hopes were dashed. On the finest setting the mill produced cracked wheat, not flour. With 4 passes we got a gritty wheat flour that was so heavy it stayed at the bottom of a bottle when i tried to make barm. It was not suitable for baking bread.

Doesn't stay on the selected setting, have to re-grind several times.
This grinds the grain, but the knob jumps up several levels. So if it is on the finest setting, its only grinding at medium, instead of superfine. I have to re-grind each batch 2 or 3 times before I get the desired fine consistency. It works, but I guess you get what you pay for. I'm hoping to save up for a nicer quality grinder. For now, I'm stuck with this cheap one that doesn't perform very well.

I wish I had bought this ages ago!
This product is easy to use and to clean. I use it for making lentil flour and for grinding my coffee. It's super helpful to have a multiuse piece.

Good product, but,
Definitely not made by kitchenaid, it grinds ok, but for most whole grains, i.e. kamut, flaxseed, it takes 3 grinding to get it into the consistency you want. Also the knob that let's you select the coarseness will go from very fine grind to the next step back while grinding the whole berries. All in all, not bad but could be better.

Does not make flour
I bought this expecting to grain fine flour from organic wheat berries, but it did not deliver. Even on the finest setting, it produced very large, hard grains. I ran it through the grinder 3 times, and it STILL did not get to a soft flour texture. I returned this as it did not serve my needs.
