Excellent quality blade
This Vikenoff boning knife is a balance blade that fit great in the hand. It just gives you confidence to do the work and do it safely as well. I almost gave this a 5-star review but the one I received has a slight wiggle in the wooden handle, nothing that affects the use of the knife. There are no visual appearances of a physical flaw and is a great working boning knife. Very giftable! Good buy!

Great knife
This knife is awesome. First, I love that it comes with a sheath. Makes me feel good about putting this in my truck or backpack. The blade is thick, resolving any concern of the blade braking. It is very sharp out of the box. Handle is very comfortable with the finger hole. I believe this will become one of my favorite all around camping knives and could very well get a lot of use in the home kitchen even. I highly recommend this knife.

Looks great
My review is only based on look and feel. I probably won't get the chance to use it as I intend for a few months, but I did not want to delay my review on it for so long. Especially since most knives are very sharp right out of the box, and it takes repeated use to show how well the blade stand up. Since this will be used for camping trips. it might take a year for me to see how well it actually holds up to give an honest review on the blade. That being said it looks great and feels great in my hand. It is comfortable to hold as I am sure it will be to use. For the price, the quality isn't too bad.

2.5 Stars –OKAY– But Not Great Knife
This knife is almost more for display than use; it is not bad, but not great either. The advertisement does not list the grade of stainless steel used… and as knife connoisseurs know, there are MANY grades and qualities of SS, from very cheap 420 up to superb grades such as 154CM, 440XH, and ATS-34. The fact the grade isn’t specified leads me to believe it is a low grade steel; if it weren’t – surely the manufacturer would flaunt that.My knife isn’t “newspaper slicing sharp” – and the cutting edge is not uniformly ground; it is ground more on the reserve side than the obverse. The edge is rough (micro-saw toothed), clearly not finished with 800/1000 or finer grit. Micro-saw toothed is okay for cutting hides/skin, but not what I prefer for fine cuts. I am surprised this is marketed as a “Boning Knife” as the blade is both too thick and too wide for boning (fileting) fish or game. It is closer to the traditional shape of a Japanese Chef’s Chopping Knife. Useful in the kitchen to separate large cuts of meat or to dice food. The blade balances just aft of the scale (handle) and blade junction, well behind the finger hole. The handle is comfortable and robustly secured to the full tang. The thin leather sheath is for storage and not actual wear in the field hunting. The small belt loop would break off before one day of field use.

A Very Intense But Effective Knife
Always double check your measurements kids. I can admit I was expecting a much smaller knife but that came from me misreading the measurements. None the less this baby is beautiful. It has a black matte hammered metal lacquer and a very fine curved blade. It is also huge. The blade is fairly sharp and I have used it to cut thick cuts of meat and scale fish. It takes some getting used to due to the curved nature of the blade but once you get that down you've got an excellent knife on your hands. Visually appealing, super effective, and makes a great gift.

Nice knife
This knife cuts well and was made well. It fits nicely and comfortably in the hand. It is easy to clean. It is not too heavy either.

Great for the knife collector
Comes in a gift-able box, with leather sheath. Has great hefty feel to it and fits comfortably in your hand. Blade is stunning and looks just like pictured. This will probably stay in my kitchen as my new favorite knife. The finger hole is feels proper to use and give you that extra grip and leverage.Highly recommend for collectors and daily use.
