Review "What makes the catalog stand apart is its integration of the Renaissance master's drawings and paintings from all phases of his career, providing a holistic approach to his creative process. . . . The inclusion of exquisite reproductions of the paintings with their preliminary drawings allows for a rich, satisfying experience. . . . Highly recommended."--CHOICE About the Author Achim Gnann is a curator at the Albertina, a museum in Vienna, Austria, with a focus on old master prints and drawings and twentieth-century art.

Stunning!
This is a catalogue of the exhibition of Raphael's works that was mounted by the Albertina and Ashmolean Museums. What I like especially about this book is the number of stunning full-page, full-color plates of Raphael's paintings and drawings, including infrared reflectograms of Raphael's works that are presented as part of its analyses into Raphael's working methods and how his drawings related to the finished paintings. This is a large heavy book (approximately 12" x 10", 450 pages) with new digitized color reproductions of Raphael's works which are of the highest quality.
