Perfect for thin or fine hair
Before purchasing I did what I consider to be a fair amount of research on Boar Bristle Brushes. All boar bristle brushes are not a like - didn't know it was so complicated! This brush is cushioned and the bristle work best with fine or thinning hair. My hair is past my shoulders. I don't think the length of hair is an issue - it is the thickness. If you have thick hair this brush will not work for you as it will not go through the layers.Price wise it is comparable to other places that sell the same brand - liked that I could return it if needed. I will be keeping it. It is of high quality and makes my hair shiny and smooth!Want a boar bristle brush and not sure what is right for you - go to the Kent website and look at the many different models and the description of what the brush is best for (thick hair, fine hair, short hair, long hair etc.). Write the model code down. The manufacturer is in England so you probably won't be purchasing it from them - Euro's and shipping fee.

Yes, it’s expensive
You get what you pay for and Kent brushes are really top quality. This is a good size and feels comfortable in the hand. Easy to clean, especially with the little hair removal brush that’s included. It’s expensive, but you will have it for years.

Somewhat Disappointing
I have less falling hair using this brush. I do like it more than the plastic bristle paddle brush I had been using, which I feel was tearing my hair. Having said this, I think this brush is way over priced for the size of the paddle, and the fact the bristles do not reach the roots or my scalp, which is the whole point of brushing--correct? I find, with this brush, that you MUST part your hair into sections to be able to actually reach the roots and the scalp. I do have very long hair, but my hair is by no means thick. I am more in the thin to medium hair range. The bristles in this brush are just not firm enough. If you do not part your hair into sections, you end up just brushing the surface of your hair. Not the point of me paying over $100.00 for a brush. The cleaning tool that comes along with it, while does do what it says it does, can be accomplished with any cheap smaller brush or comb from a Dollar Tree. It just is not anything special. And for over $100.00 lets be real. The handle of the brush is hard plastic--not even wood. There have been a few times I feel the brush handle is going to snap while just brushing my hair, as I can feel it bending. I feel that for this very expensive price, and being from a company that for so long has taken pride in their brushes, the paddle needs to be bigger, the bristles stronger and firmer for a really proper brushing of the hair, the handles should not be made of plastic, and there really should be less of a deal made about the cleaning tool that comes with it as it is nothing special. Even the packaging was a disappointment. For this price, the package should be something classy. You are not charged for the cleaning tool but it is part of the high price for this brush, so the reality is--you really are being charged for this tool. Would I buy it again? Never. Would I buy again from this historical hair care company? Yes, but never at this overpriced amount. Women need to brush their hair--all their hair. Not just the surface of their hair. As far as shine, I have not noticed any real difference. I had some shine before and I still have the same amount, so the over pricing of this brush does really little or nothing at all in that department. I like the fact the bristles are not plastic. However, I still have to use my plastic bristle paddle brush to separate my hair since this brush only surface brushes. And again, I do not have thick hair. This expensive brush will work if you have the time to part your hair and brush it section by section. Perhaps my hair is too long for this brush, but I do not see how length impacts not being able to reach the roots or scalp of my head. And let's face it, to pay over $100.00 for a brush, you have to care about the health of your hair which begins at the scalp. Lots of women wish for the healthy longer hair of women from the past. This is one of the reasons I was attracted to purchase the brush in the first place. The company could have made a greater effort in the production of this expensive brush to deliver a better grooming tool for women who are willing to go that extra mile to try and achieve that goal. Instead, the company seems to sell you big time on their history of women using this sort of brush throughout the decades resulting in healthier hair. For over $100.00 the workmanship just is not there. Like the Company, love the idea, like the non plastic bristles, but really just not worth the money being charged for the end result. Healthy hair needs more than an idea or a history of what was. Women today need are own results now. I have used the brush everyday for over a month with the above mentioned results. Really this particular product along with its "special" cleaning tool just in no way meets it's high price. In short, you are buying into the idea and being charged for that idea that a woman's secret from the past in growing a healthy head of hair came from grooming their hair with this company's brushes. I am curious what their brushes cost during earlier times, as apparently not much has changed about the brush, except possibly the materials of which the handles are now made--which again, seems to bend if too much pressure is applied. A brush should address the importance of the scalp and the roots of hair...not only the surface. For the expensive amount being charged, this brush just does not provide that for a healthy head of hair.

You should buy a brush from this company!
I am a older woman with thinning hair and I wish I had bought this brush 10 years ago. It is fantastic and well worth the money. I will get another one for travel in case of loss since I refuse to be without it!!! So, go girls, get one!!! I’m serious !

IT'S HARD!!! Not for fine hair.
This brush is hard!!! I guess it's all relative but it is not soft from my experience with many boars hair brushes this one is REALLY hard. The bristles felt harder than the prongs on my Denman brush as it relates to the thin bristles. I was expecting something a little firmer than a baby brush and got what should be a fabric brush. All grumbling aside, the brush is relatively well designed for someone with a lot of brushing to do as far as ergonomics. I liked the way the handle fit in my hand when I took it out of the box. I was disappointed because when I inspected the brush there was a big hole on the top as if it was a casting hole or something. I thought it could have at least be sealed and buffed out. I think this brush is tooo rough for fine fragile hair. Unless your hair is super straight, it will most likely remove as much hair as it removes dirt. I have bought cheaper brushes at Sally's that are SUPPOSED to be boars hair for significantly less and significantly softer. If you have even a little bit of bend in your fine hair, I do not recommend this brush. For the quality over all, I dont think this brush is worth nearly $75.

Not for me
Unfortunately, this brush was made with very coarse & stiff boar's hair & I was afraid to use it on my very fine, thinning hair. Luckily the seller made the return very easy & I was able to get my money back on the purchase. The brush was nice quality, just not right for fine hair IMO.

BEWARE - not at all soft
Bought this for my Dad, who has thinning hair. This brush is very scratchy, hurts his head. And now unable to return, given returns policy

As someone who colours and blow dries their hair avidly and often indulges in daily washes, I was desperate to find a brush more forgiving of my hectic hair routine! I have tried mixed bristle brushes before but they were still not gently enough to give me peace of mind that my hair wasn't going to rip out as a result of brushing. After a few uses I can say that my fine hair feels protected from breakage more due to the more forgiving bristles, and that I can brush my hair more thoroughly without worrying. Would highly recommend this to people with thinning or weaker hair, looking for more brush coverage and to brush conditioning oils from root to tip.

Well, I wasn't expecting that ! (In a good way !)
After 21 years I needed to replace my hairbrush, my old brush is a Mason Pearson and I loved it ,BUT, being a bit skint these days I opted for this Kent brush, it arrived this morning as I was about to wash my hair ( it was manky !) So I thought I'd brush it before I washed it.It has twice as many bristles as my old brush (my old MP brush still has all it's bristles despite its age but was definitely made with far less bristles ) so initially I found it difficult to get the Kent brush through my hair, but I took small sections and made sure the bristles touched my scalp each time I brushed to distribute the oil at the roots downward , WELL IMPRESSED! So impressed that I actually don't need to wash it now, my roots look freshly washed , and the lengths are shiny and smooth , a bit more effort required to section and brush, but I didn't need to wash it so I saved time overall, oh, and apart from the time saving aspect , my hair looks glorious, thankyou
