Yes, they are small. But the way that they work is that you are placing the books on them, to keep them stable. Probably won't work as well if you are dealing with very small, lightweight books. But for me - with heavier books - the weight of the books keeps them in place, so the size doesn't matter. And the smaller size means they are easier to tuck away someplace when you are not using them.

These bookends are perfect for medium to small books. I do have several books (25ish) held by one on each end and it’s holding strong 2 days later with no movement. I use the bookends with the bookends inserted in the middle of the last book on each end and the long bottom inserted inwards. This also helps steady the end. Good luck!

These are nice, small bookends. I used them on a large bookshelf to keep the end books from falling over.
