Great Book, and Great Gift!
Great book for beginners. I buy these to give to people who have given no thought as to how to prepare for their future...and there are a lot of these. I was one of them, and thankfully I woke up in time, so I have made it a point to try to urge young people to give some thought to their financial future. This book is very accessible to someone who "hasn't got a clue." Several people I know began saving and investing as a result of reading the copy I gave them, and it is going to make a world of difference to them when they reach retirement age. So if you are one of the people "without a clue," this is the book for you.

Here's where to start!
As I write this review every other review for this great little book gives it five stars and that is well deserved. For new investors, or for ANY investor who is not really (and I mean *really*) sure they are on top of things, this book is where to begin. It will show you the big picture and give you a clear view of every important aspect of investing for the long haul. There are other books that go into more detail or that have more rigorous theoretical discussion. Some have very entertaining histories and anecdotes, but most of those swamp the beginner in side issues or details one can't appreciate without the concise overview provided here. There are also many other introductory books, and I have read a few, but this one stands out for its clarity. You actually don't *need* any more than is in this book, but if you start to dig into the resources listed at the end you will probably want to dig deeper and learn more. When I came across this book I had already read most of what it lists in the Resources section and can say it contains a great selection.I read this book after about six months of self-education about investment strategies and can say that it covers all the important aspects in a highly organized way that is easy to follow. After reading this I bought three more copies to give to my (adult) children. I didn't think any of the other books I read would have been of any use to them. Perhaps after they read this one they will follow up on their own.

intelligently written..
If you're starting out on investing, this book is a very-much appreciated start and this is coming from a fellow newbie. I really appreciated the addressing of the facts from fiction on the consumer economics behind the investment sector. The sector that monitors sectors. I believe this book sets the tone of the proper perspective one should have before investing. The book establishes a baseline and inserts itself right in the middle of most americans, investment instruments for wealth and financial advisers. I don't believe any favors were made by writing this book except to be honest with the readers. Having just recently started investing as I approach 40 I've become more of an open airwave antenna picking up all the market news and signals. We have input sensors on 16 hours a day and we need to be cognizant of 'decision triggers'. The author associates the same principles to investing and tactfully shows the alternate view. The polite presentation of the views allow room for the investigative reader to explorer riskier areas (stocks). The tech stocks these days seem to be a lighthouse (not like the light bulb on the cover, but I'm in Tech... can't.. reeezist). The author is a CPA as clearly noted on the cover. That is, the letter designation for passing the much harder Series test. Ok, so I didn't mention the contents of the book. Hey, it's a "100 pages or less" and the man deserves his keep.

Why complicate things?
I have been investing for a little over four years and it was the best decision I ever made. I never read one book prior to investing and that was probably a mistake. "Investing Made Simple" is probably the only book I will ever read as I see no reason to complicate things and meddle with something that can be automatic, easy and painless. This book sets things out in a clear, easy to read, no-nonsense fashion. Investing is not rocket science and this book gives the reader the confidence to get started or the reassurance needed to continue. The best part is you can read it in under an hour and know all you need to know to develop a long term, simple investing strategy. This book is somewhat of a "beginner" book, but it is advertised that way. I think it is perfect for someone looking to invest for the first time or someone who is investing for the future and new to the game.I look forward to reading more "simple" books by Mike Piper.

Good, but just that!
This book provides the very basic facts. It’s rather too underwhelming. But truth be said - the author doesn’t make a contrary claim.

Easy Read
If you are new to investing or are an unsophisticated investor this is the book to get you started. The author explains investing in a very simple way.I don`t have a lot of time to devote to my investments so this strategy works for me .I am investing long term so index funds make more sense for me.The author needs to include the abbreviations for the funds he suggests. This would make it easier to research.

Investing made simple
The books keeps its promises. Simple, clear, a good cut through all the bs we are bombarded everyday with. You won't become a seasoned investor right after you finish the book, but it's a great start to go with further more detailed analysis. Good book whatsoever.

Index Fund Investing
Index fund investing is certainly the way for us middle class, middle to older age people should be investing. After the scandal of the mutual funds over the last 25 years, it is really great to read books and guides on how to choose the best index funds. That is why I purchased this book. However, it was a little disappointing. It was good in the sense that it promoted index fund investing, but like so many weaker writers, he assumed his audience was pretty simple minded. In fact, most investors have become very sophisticated over the years and what we need is a guide which helps us to think through all the important factors to keep in mind when investing.I realize the title says "Investing Made Simple" and I did keep that in mind when I was reading. Nevertheless, investing is never simple. I believe the average return for the average investor over the last 50 years has been around 2%. This is unacceptable given that indexes have been growing around 9% a year and we need the power of compounding to allow us to accumulate enough capital to be able to retire with a reasonable income as we grow older.I wish I could recommend a better guide. The books by John Bogle are good, but for many people untrained in the investment industry they can be quite daunting. And some writers are recommending exchange traded funds (ETFs) just like all the hype about mutual funds so many years ago. ETFs have proliferated to the point where is can be very confusing for someone not trained in investment analysis. What is needed is a good solid guide for sophisticated savers who need help thinking through and deciding on the key elements and factors which will lead to a positive investment experience with index funds and ETFs.

Great advice, but the same advice is available online for free
It does what it says on the cover. It covers in less than 100 pages simple investing advice. This advice, however, is available online on easily to find and free website so I am not sure it was money well spent for me. Should have invested it....dooh
