one star for lack of a zero choice. the lights seem to be alive and well, its the little toy remote that is the headache. Does not work. Cannot get into the lil battery compartment to check if the battery is good or not. The latch is impossible . push in the tiny side while pulling out the tiny drawer. I'm driven to toss it into the trash. Not worth the effort of returning.

Installing them was pretty easy after I finally got the adhesive backing off. When I took it off originally the whole adhesive back came off instead of just the top part you’re supposed to peel off and I finally got them separated and the rest of the lights were installed without a problem. They work with the remote but the app doesn’t work at all. I don’t know if it’s cause I have another brand of lights on my tv that use an app too and it won’t work with both since it’s Bluetooth or if the app just sucks but I haven’t gotten it to work at all. For the price, the lights work and I can use the remote it came with at least but for the app not working and the adhesive being a pain I would definitely look at another brand. Also the cord to plug them in is pretty short compared to other ones so keep that in mind too. I think it’s maybe just under 12 inches. I bought another kind that I messed up and got these to try it again the right way this time lol and the original ones had a longer cord that would’ve made the lights long enough but since the cord is shorter they don’t reach as far and aren’t long enough (see pictures). Long story short don’t recommend but at least they work.

The media could not be loaded. When I ordered this it was listed for about $5. Now that I installed it, I see the difference between this and another one I ordered for $15.The main drawbacks of this cheaper one compared to the more expensive one are as follows:-LED lights are much dimmer than the more expensive one. The brightness control on the remote doesn't seem to work.-This one comes with a rudimentary remote that only changes static colors and different speeds of fading between the seven main different colors.-This one only shows one color at a time, compared to the more expensive LED strip that is able to show a different color every 12 inches of the strip so that you get a rainbow effect behind the TV at all times if you want.-This one requires the Lotus Lantern app to be downloaded if you want to sync the lights to either your voice or the ambient noise of the TV. However I don't like this strobe effect of the sync.Other drawbacks of the app:-The color wheel on the app that is supposed to let you choose any of a million colors doesn't work right and doesn't show the proper color that is chosen.-There are too many permissions needed for the app, including IMEI, personal email address, precise location, music and other personal files that are stored on your phone, constant microphone permission for voice sync. I have another app that syncs with ambient noise but it says that it only stores the information on your phone, however this app does not specify that so your data maybe transmitted to be app developer, etc-music sync opens a storage folder of your downloaded music but I think you can also just use a music app to let it sink too any ambient music that is playing in the roomThis is an okay monitor light if you don't mind only having one color at a time.

Did not know I had to dl an app to be able to change the colors. That is very disappointing and just annoying. It's on the color red and I guess that's how it's gonna stay
