6 months later and still the clear winner with Home Assistant. Couldn’t be better.
This is a well thought out and well executed item. I take pride in my design sensibilities and I can’t think of a single sane improvement. They give stickers to attach to the fridge, print a reminder on them that glue won’t stick to condensation, and give 4 of them just in case. The plastic mount for the probe is a big improvement over nothing, and the cable winds up on it nicely to avoid having zip-tied wires in the fridge. The wire itself is oval instead of round, much easier to sneak into the fridge through the weatherstripping on the door, but not 20x the price like foil cable. The display reads well, it’s a simple polarized LCD. The case feels solid and could take a few falls. The magnet is strong enough. Even the packaging is well thought out and well executed. Some details: Works with Home Assistant via the Govee Bluetooth integration. I have a few other Bluetooth Govee devices, some running over an ESP32 Bluetooth proxy. This one in particular is going over the radio built into an older Intel NUC. The Govee app works without issue. It was not needed for Home Assistant to see it, but I did test it before writing this. Their app, although not my style, has been satisfactory in a sea of horrendous half-translated trash that have the ad-load of a clicker game. The Govee app is one of the few I occasionally use by choice (one of their xmas projectors is great) Finally, the price.., You could double it and would get no complaints from me, but this price is about perfect to get it into the hands of people who are understandably fed-up with trying yet another brand of cheap automation stuff, having been burned so many times in the past. It has been 6 months and I bought another for a chest freezer. They are still perfect.

Govee just keeps impressing me...
Anyone who has dealt with Samsung or LG refrigerators knows how temperamental they can be. LG has been subject to at least 2 class action law suits in the last 12 years because their compressors allegedly are junk. And many of the compressors in Samsung units come from... LG! So when my LGs and Samsungs were on the fritz and I thought it was my imagination that the temperatures in my fridge and freezer units were warmer than they should be... I bought a bunch of these and they helped confirm what I suspected. Faulty fridge/ freezer units. What's really amazing about these Govee units is the sensitivity and frequency of the temperature sampling. So if you open the fridge or freezer, you'll the see the temperature on the unit rise as warm outside air mixes with the internal cold air... And then after you close the door, the temperature begins to go back to cold... That is if your fridge/ freezer is working right. Another great feature is how the temperature screens bind to a gateway to give you a reliable internet connection. The gateway is a little box you plug into a power outlet within a few yards of the thermometer location. Plugging the gateway into an outlet instead of having the wifi transmitter built into the thermometer helps significantly enhance the battery life. This is probably my 7th or 8th Govee IoT (Internet of Things... you know, like... Smart devices. All the stuff Alexa/ Siri/ Hey Google/ Bixby can control). And they just continue to impress me. The stuff just works and is easy to setup. Every now and then you come across and awkward phrasing or instruction in the Govee app because their Chinese to English translators could use some smoothing out and finesse. But I now have 5 of these things in my house! They are rock solid and worth every penny.

Awesome little temp sensors, just make sure you exclude the app from Deep Sleep in Android.
Works great, good battery life, good connection back to the Govee hub. It's really nice having a smart home temp sensor that isn't just a little white piece of plastic, it's nice that it also has a screen to see the temp. This isn't a complaint about the sensors themselves, but just a tip...if you're using them on Android - these can sort of be "set it and forget it" type devices. So make sure you set the app to be excluded from Deep Sleep. If you don't use the app for a period of time, Android will "Slate" the app for Deep Sleep, which means it stops receiving updates, notifications stop working, etc. And you won't even notice. I have these sensors to alert me when the temps get too high/low...but that rarely happens. Eventually, the app was put to sleep and I didn't realize for months. Which means if the temps actually did fall out of range, I never would have been notified.

A Quality Freezer Thermometer with Comprehensive Alarming Capabilities
There's really nothing not to like about this unit. The display is easy to read, and has a mangetic back for easy mounting. The probe cable is flexible and sits flat so it creates as minimal interference as possible with the door seal. This unit is Bluetooth, but best when paired through its respective WiFi gateway (which will service multiple units). The app gives you real-time as well as history temperature readings. The alarming can be customized with a temperature band (e.g. temperature gets warmer than n, or colder than n, or goes outside n and n). It also includes an anti-falsing timer, so the temperature has to stay outside the okay range for a settable amount of minutes before going off. This allows the fridge or freezer to be opened for short periods of time without tripping a nuisance alarm. While there is no audible alarm in this unit, alarms are sounded on your phone, as well as anyone else you decide to share with. In addition, email alerts can also be sent. For a basement fridge or garage chest freezer with a lot of expensive perishables, this is a must-have.

This is excellent at monitoring our freezer temp. It allows for remote monitoring and gives peace of mind

Disappointed. This needs a separate gateway, to have remote connectivity which isn’t available separately. It looks like Govee knows this too and their fix was to relabel the item. If this isn’t rectified, I’ll probably return this misadvertised item and will look for another vendor. Already sent email to manufacturer support line.
