Jan Fennell - The Dog Listener [DVD]

I was given Jan Fennell's "The Dog Listener" book a short while before getting our Chocolate Labrador puppy Buddy (he's now 4!) and I loved it. My neighbour is about to get a puppy and I thought that she could benefit from the book in the same way that we did, so I came on here to get her a copy that she could keep (as Buddy had taken a dislike to the fact that this book was so good and proceeded to eat the first 17 pages of ours! Our copy, as you can imagine is a little bit dog eared)Many of the tips we put into practice and some we still use today. However, being lazy humans, some of the other practices have slipped by the way side and as a result Buddy isn't the best behaved that he could be! My husband isn't one for picking up books and putting the instructions into practice, so when I saw the DVD I was really pleased! I have watched it through myself and am still waiting for my husband to catch up so that we can put these things into practice together and show Buddy some consistency.I love how Jan is at one with her dogs, how much she respects them, and they her. She offers practical advice that should be easy to put into practise (only time will tell!). The production of the DVD feels a bit on the less expensive side, but what does that matter when the content is what is important? I found Jan's book really useful and the DVD is looking set to be just as helpful.

I bought this Dvd ages ago and should have watched it straight away! I finally sat down to watch it this afternoon (24.9.13) and I think it's something every dog owner should have.I've watched other Dvd's about dog training but this is by far the best. I listened to what she said and thought oh, yeah, that's quite logical. She makes it look so easy and quick to change the un-desired behaviour. I've already started a few little changes and have to say, we had the best walk in years!! We were both more relaxed and we even managed to walk past another dog with very little fuss.My dog is a nervous girl and my biggest fear is that she will bite someone but with Jan's common sense training, I'm confident I can turn my dog around.Everyone in my household will be watching this Dvd so we're all doing the same thing. Consistency is the key.Highly reccomend this product.

We watched this dvd and were amazed at how quickly there is a good result if you stick to the simple guidelines and instructions, if you have any difficulties with your dog or dogs.Even if you don't- it heps so much to understand how dogs think in a simple non airy- fairy way!We immediately started putting these thoughts into action and have been in less than a day really pleased at the change already- so much so, I am about to order another one to lend to those I am telling about it!Even our teenage sons cannot deny -the improvement and teenage boys aren't always the most observant of creatures!!! There are so many dog training books etc about which are good but this dvd heps you to see it in action with the results too. I have ordered the book too for maybe more indepth reference but seeing is believing. delighted!

This DVD is a must for anyone deciding to become a dog owner. It gives amazing insight into the world of a dog. The way this DVD informs a dog owner either new or old is such easy watching and learning. Jan and her son are so good at explaining each aspect of a dog and how to be a responsible owner. It also shows the reader or should I say viewer that anything is possible for you and your dog and gives clear and common sense information. You will see your dog in a whole new light and begin to really enjoy his or her company.

The DVD is helpful as a back up to any training. I find this better than advice in written form. Dog training groups are the best training support so that you can understand your dog better and how the owner and the dog deal with different situations and how they can work together to improve those situations. The DVD helps to reinforce to the owner how to understand the dog. It is amazing how quickly we can forget the training session or what we should be doing as owners/trainers. I found this DVD very helpful.

We got this when our new dog was a puppy, having already been lent the the book. The DVD is more about problem dogs and the general guidance in the book was probably better in terms of having a dog's eye view of the world and how they expect to be treated. I think it is certainly true that her basic point - that we need to think dog a bit more rather than expecting them to think human - is a sensible one. They are loyal and mostly try to please, but don't always know how, especially if we are inconsistent.

I bought this DVD to accompany 2 books by Jan Fennell. This is such a good buy, it works so well with the books and brings to life the philosophy and training methods so well identified therein. Problematic (assumed so) Welsh Terrier (Welsh Terrorist) strong Alpha Male belonging to my daughter, after one month already of applying the teachings of Jan Fennell with a few hours coaching on the methods, such a difference - calm household, happy to put hand down to retreive food from the floor no nipping, more loving and submissive, what a difference and what a dog..My own forthcoming shelter dog homecoming for a stray I have sponsored, will be treated from day 1 in this caring 'pack' method; it is well worth the small investment in this DVD, you and your dog(s) deserve it.
