The Oxford Picture Dictionary (The ^AOxford Picture Dictionary Program)

great tool for ESL classes
As an Oxford book, I'm not surprised that some of the English words used seem more European than American, so I supplement their terms with what I most commonly hear in my region of the U.S. As one other reviewer mentioned, there is not pronunciation help accompanying each word, but as a textbook for a teacher-led class, this book is outstanding. The pictures are done in a way that communicates the concept better than some other picture dictionaries I've seen, and it allows me to quickly convey ideas to a multicultural class. I still use examples, gestures, and acting out, but this book usually gets the idea across quicker and more accurately. And the combination of pictures with my demonstrations makes my students feel confident that they understand. I loved the old version, but this monolingual edition is the best yet.

Funtastic!
I love this dictionary because it has large pictures in color. There is enough room around the picture to write the italian equivalent.

Old fashioned dictionary
It’s fine but some concepts are outdated.

I've used this for years, so that is the best recommendation I can give.
The illustrations are excellent, and the formats are easy to follow. My students are at the English levels 2,3 and 4, so the drawings are an easy way to make the visual connection quick and easy. I have used this for several years, and find it's a great vocabulary builder for beginners.

Amazon Needs to list as CANADIAN version
I accidentally bought this version several times not noticing that it was the Canadian version. I buy lots of these for my students, so in my haste, I didn't notice it wasn't the one we have been using. Very disappointing and a waste of my hard earned money.

helped a lot
bought this for my wife's esl class. This book along with the CD helped her a lot in learning basic english and learning the names of vegetables she was buying regularly at the store. good starter book for someone challenged with english.

Very satisfied
I already use the regular Oxford Picture Dictionary in my ESL class. Having this Canadian edition gives me the opportunity to have another resource with other pictures and other presentations of material.
