Produces some really great smoked meats
Update Dec 2023:Three years later and this smoker is still my workhorse. I do a lot of quick smoke steaks (220 for maybe thirty minutes and then finish them on the sidekick sear box). I would guess in the last three years I have fired this thing up—no exaggeration—500 times. I use it multiple times per week. I have done some long smokes like a brisket too, but I mostly use it for quicker stuff. It is showing its age on the outside as I do not keep a cover on it though it is on a covered porch, but functionality has not suffered at all. I had some issues early on with keeeping temp but camp chef support was incredible and we diagnosed that I just needed to clean my thermometer rod. Also with the last firmware update the Bluetooth actually works great now. I expect I’ll have this thing for another five years with no issues. Best purchase I’ve made in a long time!Original review:Totally in love with my woodwind 24! I’ve had it for 3 weeks now and used it 6 times. I first smoked a whole chicken low and slow, awesome flavor and juicy! Then I have been experimenting with smoking then searing on the sidekick (with grill box attachment). I’ve done burgers, steaks, and pork chops, all great! I smoke them for about an hour or two on “high smoke”(220degrees, smoke level 3) depending, wait to get close to temp, then pull them off and sear them on the grill box at high heat (it gets to like 800 degrees!) for a minute or two per side and bam they are perfect. I also used the woodwind as more of a traditional grill once for 2 lbs of chicken thighs, cooked them at 375 for around 20 minutes and they were juicy and still had a ton of smoke flavor, so you don’t even have to smoke low and slow to get that wood flavor. So far I haven’t turned the smoke level up past 3, and i still get heavy smoke flavor. I read reviews of pellet grills in general not having enough smoke flavor but i have not had that problem at all. I have been using traeger brand hickory pellets, but looking forward to trying other woods and other brands. Next up I’m trying a brisket, watch out! Oh also my side shelf was bent upon delivery—their customer service sent me a new side shelf and added front shelf just to be nice, now that’s customer service right there. I almost bought a Traeger originally, but I’m really glad I went with Camp Chef. Feels like a product that will last me 10 years. Oh also, the app worked from the start for me and is super easy to use. I did have one time when it randomly wouldn’t connect via Bluetooth. I chose “forget device” on my Bluetooth settings in my phone and then reconnected and it has been fine ever since. So nice to have the app to monitor grill temp and probe temps. Love the 22lb hopper capacity so I don’t have leftover pellets sitting in bags. Easy clean out feature it great. Really can’t say enough about this machine. This is my first pellet grill and the first time I’ve ever smoked meats, so happy!

Terrific Grill!
Generally, the grill has been very easy to use and I've had no problems with it.- I've cooked thick steak, chicken, pork shoulder and a whole turkey on it. All came out great except the turkey which was not completely done in its deepest region. I think this was user error. I was worried that the steak wouldn't get done in timely fashion or wouldn't give a 'grilled' appearance. Neither was a problem. I was cooking 2-3" think filet mignon- I've had no problems with the app and it's worked very well for monitoring progress without having to hover by the grill- Food has tasted great- I love the ease of cleaning up the ash as compared to my Weber charcoal grillCons:- Directions are a bit confusing with regard to part names such as 'grease tray' and 'grease trough'. Not sure what they're referring to- The cover I purchased for the grill is a little on the snug side and takes some effort to put on. I purchased the sidekick grill with it which could be the culprit- Need to keep your eye on the wood pellets and push them towards hole where they feed into the grill. They seem to pile up on the sides a bit

Cooking over wood adds Awesome Flavor!
Ok I admit, It felt odd looking for an extension cord and outlet to try my new grill. But in the end, I was amazed at the added flavor you get when you cook over wood compared to gas or charcoal. I own a Weber gas grill and a Weber Smokey Mountain Smoker. The Camp Chef Woodwind beats them both hands down. I've been using the Camp Chef for 3 months now cooking brisket, steak, chicken, pork chops, and seafood. All have been high end restaurant quality food. I added the Camp Chef 14" BBQ box to my sidekick. It does an excellent job of searing, 750 degrees in 10 min flat. I cook on the pellet grill first, then reverse sear the steak, chicken and pork for the perfect grill cross marks on the Sidekick BBQ box.The digital controller and temperature probes are spot on. Set it and forget it has made grilling so easy. No need to open the lid, the temp of the meat is displayed right on my phone or the controller and the grill maintains desired temp with in a few degrees of set point.I tried adding wood chips to my weber gas grill for added flavor. It helped, but I could still taste the gas.I tried doing steaks and pork chops on my weber smoker. My Wife said too much smoke flavor for her. When I made Steak the first time on the Camp Chef, she and I both agreed, absolutely perfect. Finally! Everybody's happy. She even pointed out that I had a smoke ring on my Beef Tenderloin. Amazing!I think I will soon have a Weber gas grill and a Weber smoker for sale because I found the perfect Grill/smoker with my new Camp Chef 24 in. WiFi Woodwind Pellet Grill & Smoker with Sidekick.

Great Pellet Smoker
The pellet smoker along with the sidekick is wonderful. I also bought the Pizza Oven accessory. I ordered the 24 inch model but was shipped the 36 inch unit by mistake. When one orders the 36 inch model it comes delivered in two boxes due to it's size. Only one box was delivered of the two. I called customer service and they told me it was their mix up and I could have the 36 inch model for the same price as the 24 inch model and they would ship out the missing box. When I received the mixing box and while I was assembling the unit I discovered that the pellet hopper box was damaged to the point where I could not install the auger guard into the pellet hopper. I left it out because it did not impede the functionality of the pellet smoker. I have used the pellet smoker and the attachments and I am pleased with the unit.
