bad design
Adjustable Flower Box Holder F2436: The frame does not sit level with the railing. It doesn't sag in typical fashion. More like a reverse sag. The front part is actually higher than the rear (closest to the railing). I'll upload a pic. The "tab" in the back is in the way and hits the balusters preventing levelness. Because of the tab, I had to attach the bracket at the furthest possible point to make it fit at all. I could only use 2 screws and they sent 6?!?!?! I am a little concerned with how secure it will be once I put dirt and flowers in a 30" box.It is hard to find white holders (to use with a white box) so I will keep it. I need a 2nd one but I will keep looking for a better style. Ridiculous shipping costs keeps me away from getting it again. The open-ended one sold by the same manufacturer is too wide (front to back) for a standard flower box.Update: So I thought I had it adjusted okay, but when I actually put a filled 30" flower box in it with soil and water, it was not secure. Its center point of gravity was off and the holder wanted to tip forward right off the railing. I secured the (alleged) leveler bar to the rear of the brackets with white cable ties and it seems to be holding together okay. Very strange holder. This task should not be so difficult!!!

Closest thing to what I needed.
I bought this after reading the review of someone that had the same type of railing I have, vinyl with a rounded top. This worked well and fit well. Better than any other I'd tried. The piece of framing that sticks out the back of the holder that pushes the holder out from the railing is a great idea. Others require a piece of wood to keep the flower box from leaning over. Problem was last night we had a big storm with lots of rain. It filled up the box adding extra weight that caused the holder to fall off and the flower box and holder crashed into the driveway, cracking the box into pieces, geraniums everywhere. Oh well. I'll try again next year. I think if it would have had a curve at the end of the holder to go under the back of the railing, it wouldn't have fallen.

Excellent sturdy flower box holder for railings of varied widths.
This is a strong sturdy metal basket to hang flowers off a railing. There's 2 adjustable L-shaped hook pieces (with 3 screws each) that once you have the basket secured where you want it you can tighten the metal screws (but the nuts are plastic - so don't tighten with all your strength). I wish the bottom of the "L" adjustable hook was a little longer at the opposite end from the screws so that I could have secured a screw at that bottom end of the "L" as well as the top of the "L" to keep it from slipping, but it was secured well enough without a longer bottom end because the attached "L" pieces to the railing haven't slipped yet and the basket has managed some extremely strong windy rain storms recently (60 mph winds) and the basket has held up remarkably well without any mishaps. There's also a sturdy metal guard piece at the bottom back of the metal basket which rests against the lower part of your railing, keeping the basket pushed forward and square to the railing so it doesn't droop or bend down with the weight of your flowers. My railing is only about 1 1/2 inchs in width and I was able to adjust the hooking pieces to fit that narrow of a rail. This basket will also adjust to fit much wider railings. I initially bought 2 of these baskets and am thinking of buying one more. I like these sturdy flower box holders very much, you will too.ADDITIONAL COMMENT (several years after the original review): I've changed my original 4 star rating to a 5 star rating after several years of bringing this flower basket out to hang on my porch railing during the Spring through early Autumn seasons. I have 3 of these metal flower baskets hanging off my railing and they're just as sturdy as they were when I first hung them on the railing. (I remove them from the railing and store them during the Michigan Winters).

Will suffice, but not real satisfied.
Ordered 7 to replace old ones just like them. Quality not like the old ones. Metal used was much thinner. Had to buy longer screws to replace the ones it came with (6 on each flower box) as they were not long enough to attach bracket to hang on railing. Placed the order in two parts, 4 on one order, 3 on the other. Both deliveries contained only 3 each, so I had to call to get the missing one sent.

cobraco adjustable and expandable flower box holder
I couldn't use the brackets at all because even after they were adjusted that were not big enough. I screwed the bracket that was attached to the holder directly into the top of the rail. My top rail is 3 1/2 " but the part that attaches to the rail didn't sit flush with the rail so it was 41/2 " and wouldn't fit. Nevertheless, it worked and is holding up nicely. so far. Very sturdy. I didn't expand it . I left it at 24" wide. Not the prettiest, kinda plain jane, but I attached some signs to the front to dress it up and with the trailing petunias it looks very nice. I also added some safety straps just to make sure they didn't come off but there really wasn't any need.

AOK
Wish the the screws were a little longer & the bolts were NOT made of plastic as I lack confidence in the "Hold Stregnth." I will be replacing them.

Flower Box Holder
Replacing my old flower box holder with the same type holder. I was disappointed that the bracket nuts for fastening were made of plastic. Several of the nuts popped off when we set the flower box in the holder. Last time II purchased the same box holders the nuts were metal with a plastic coating on them. We were able to replace the new bolts with bolts we had here at home. Please get rid of plastic bolts.

looks nice
They were great until I had to put them on the railings of the porch. I had to cut off the bottom bracket that holds them up. It was too wide for our railing. I screwed a 2" board on the back and they work fine, now. Look great on front porch, but I had to make them work!!
