Great little scales
I purchased these scales in order to help me refill my Canon inkjet cartridges by weighing them when full in order to calculate exactly how much ink to add when they show as empty. I also thought they would be useful for my wife when she weighs small quantities of ingredients in her cooking. The scales are reasonably well made ,very compact, accurate and well priced. They are easy to calibrate and there is no need to buy a separate weight for testing purposes. I used the weights we already had for traditional kitchen balance scales but you could use almost any small item of a preknown weight(eg a coin). The degree of accuracy is excellent and more than adequate for domestic purposes - it was spot on for most of the kitchen weights. Occasionally it showed 0.1 gram difference but that could easily have been the test weight that was out.The tare facility is very useful so that the weight of the weighing receptacle is taken into account and zeros the display so that what then goes into it is the only thing that shows on the display. It is best suited to weigh small objects which will fit into the small weighing pan and whilst this one will weigh up to a kilogram I do not anticipate getting anywhere near that.Time will tell how durable it will turn out to be.I echo all the other positive reviews.

Fantastic Scale
Just received this today. I must say, I was expecting something cheap and not as reliable as other, more expensive products but luckily I was wrong! The scale is fantastic. Its super precise although it does tend to round things UP. A 2 pence coin should weigh 7.12g and this one reads 7.2g (although I must admit it may be a dirty coin). a clean £2 reads the perfect 12g that it should weigh and the 20p coin reads pefrectly at 5g.The best thing about it in my opinion is that the results are still just as accurate when measuring larger weights. adding a 500g weight and then adding a £2 coin will read exactly 512 grams. using the Tare function and removing the coin will read -12g as you would expect... if you blow on it, the weight increases, its that sensitive. you get the idea, it works well. The only hiccup I found is when using the tare function (which I don't use that much anyway). Other scales normally wait one second or two before applying the tare value to compensate for you pressing the scale but this one seems to be to quick about it and you end up with wrong tare values, pressing the tare button very quickly seems to resolve this problem. The scale takes about 5 seconds to auto calibrate which is great.recommended!

Works, slightly inaccurate, small display with poor viewing angle
After finding this product and reading the previous reviews - which were all 5 stars - I thought I couldn't go wrong.First off, it's not a bad product, but...I tried weighing a fairly light item and let the scale settle to tell me it's weight, 0.4g - it's was a double width twisty off a tear & share choc-chip brioche. I didn't use plastic trays as I didn't want to introduce anything else in to the equation.I re-weighed the item several times by removing it from the scale pan, letting the scale settle, place it back on the scale pan and let it settle. After about 5 or 6 attempts, the scale settled at 0.3g and then down to 0.2g. When the item was removed from the pan, the scale settled at -0.2g - should have been 0.0g.Ok, so it may be due to how light the item was and maybe a heavier item would have excited the pressure sensor a little more but then it shouldn't have a 0.1g resolution if it can't be that accurate.Secondly, to weigh a decent shot of espresso as it's pouring from the machine in to a demitasse (espresso cup), the poor display view angle means you have to view it close to vertical which is difficult with a espresso machine hanging over it, plus the digits are far smaller than I expected and black on blue isn't the best contrast for displays. So, it may be ok and suitable for some, but for me, I'm returning it and will have probably have to spend more - £20-40 instead of less than £10.

Great Value!
I bought this pocket scale to principally weigh silver. I have only used the instrument a few times, but it appears to work really well. The design is very good with the tuck-away display giving optimum space on the weighing plate. The plastic covers double as weighing containers so that you can weigh multiple items. It is easy to compensate for this by using the tare button. The American Weigh Scale is a very satisfying purchase when you consider the great value. It even comes with a handy carry pouch and is great for auction viewings etc. It can, of course, have many other uses, such as weighing smaller amounts of food, and so on. Please note that you may have to calibrate the scale occasionally; to do this you will need a 500grm weight, or the equivalent. I purchased the American Weigh weight with the scale as it was reasonable value and saved complicated calculations using bags of coins etc!

good product.
Does what is says on tin. With a plate on scales it is difficult to see display. My only small criticism would be that if the display arm was to move out further than it does then the product would be ideal.

A good weight..
This is a good prudukt, and i'm going to have much use of it in the future. But it dosen't weight carats, which i would need it to do. But that's okey, i'll just have to buy one thtat does. No problem.

Excellent product for the price
A great product. Zero's itself when switched on, so if measuring out something in a glass, put the glass in first and then turn on. Two part plastic case which also double as bigger trays to expand its capacity. Only had it a few weeks so can't comment on longevity, but a neat, simple and functional device, that is excellent for the money.

very happy with these scales
Very neat little product, genuine branded item with 10 year warranty. Worked right out of the box and is spot on every time with accurate readings on test weights. Comes complete with a plastic protective case that double up as trays for holding larger items on the scale. Would recommend these to anyone.
