Entertaining and informative physical guidebook. While out and about in the streets of Europe, I will probably rely on my phone, and the bookmarks I have placed in my browser after reading the book. Book. Also nice for kicking back in a chair and dreaming of future travels.

as typical, Rick Steves' publications are very helpful... especially for the novice. i wudn't plan a trip to Europe [or anywhere internationally, for that matter] without consulting this book. even tho it's purpose is Euro-specific advice [as the title indicates], it contains useful information for any international travel. spend time enjoying the book, thereby making yourself an informed, efficient, and nearer-"seasoned" traveller/travellerette~!

My husband and I traveled through many countries using this book and many of his others. I think anyone planning a trip to Europe needs to start with this book. The book is very fun to read. You will be very happy you did. If you are lucky enough to live in the Seattle area be sure to visit his store. His crew is very helpful when planning your trip.

Along with Rick’s 3-part “European Travel Skills” video series, I think that this is THE best resource to help you prepare for Europe (and, it could really be helpful for ANY international trips). It has so many tools, tricks and tips that he has learned and used over many years of travel to Europe. This book made my first trip over so much easier, and I have bought it for travel companions for their first trips as well. It’s updated yearly with any new info and is well-written, making your first trip easier and not nearly as overwhelming. If you are contemplating or planning an international trip the knowledge in this book is a worthy investment.

I have a previous edition with information about Morocco and acquired the latest edition where I realized that Morocco was removed in this one

Well, I can't say enough about Rick Steves. He is a constant companion on all our international trips. Whether reading one of this travel books, watching one of his videos online, or following one of his walking tours, he's a good guy to have around. He is great about recommending ways to experience the local flavor. Give him a try. You won't be disappointed.

Rick Steves is always a reliable source for details on European travel and his book, "Europe Through the Back Door" is one you should not overlook in planning your European sojourn. Full of information and back stories about major and minor destination and helpful suggestions make this book a must-have. Steves guides you through tips about getting to where you want to go, which transportation you should choose for the destination, and hot spots to avoid. He also gives essential advice about what to pack and what you should leave at home. We've been using Rick Steves for a very long time as our travel muse and have always felt well-equipped with knowledge while fulfilling our wonderlust.

Could not recommend this book more to everyone going on a trip to Europe. With over 40 years of experience traveling Rick will teach you everything you need to know for your trip to Europe. I have learned so much. It covers every topic of travel you could imagine that is incredibly helpful to make your first or 100th trip to Europe the best. I've never found any other book with such a huge amount of valuable content for my trip. Fantastic in every way! 10/10 Highly recommend to everyone going to Europe! Buy it, You won't regret it. The info and knowledge you learn from it is worth so much more the small cost of the book.

Whilst the book contents are not really affected the book i received is terribly produced, the pages are not cut straight and some are stuck together requiring me to get a knife and cut them myself. Poor QA on this
