The Story Behind Spruce the Coop. When my hen Marilyn Monroe, laid her first eggs among my garden lavender and lemon balm plants, it took me by surprise and gave me an idea. We know from centuries of the study of herbalism that essential oils in herbs impart aromatic benefits that affect mood and stress levels of people and animals, so why not bring that aromatherapy to the coop? I selected the elements of my Spruce the Coop Herbal Fusion based upon their aromatic qualities, safety for use with chickens and reputations for offending some insects that find strong scents overwhelming.

Don’t “Bock,” Buy Some!
Yes, this is an expensive bag of herbs, but it really does make the coop or brooder smell nice. I have sand in my coop (and brooder for that matter), so it’s easy to keep clean and keep smells down to a dull roar, but just adding a little pinch of Spruce the Coop to the nestboxes makes it smell minty fresh in there. Plus, the girls like to pick through it and find the dried flower heads, then chase each other around the coop, so you get a nice smell-o-vision experience as you’re watching chicken tv (admit it, we all know what that means... we do love to watch the chickens be chickens). Overall, this is a great product. Smells great, won’t hurt your babies, you get quite a lot in the bag, you get the fun of watching your birds enjoy the special treat, and did I mention that it smells great?

You smell so nice!
Great smelling minty floral scent. My chickens love! I only wish you got a little more for your money in the bag or make a bigger and more cost economical size. It smells so good I tend to over use it sometimes and sprinkle some after each clean I do in the coop.

Too expensive
I don't care how much my hens love it, in these trying times I can't afford nearly $4/oz !Priced me out of the market. I'll see if I can grow the herbs then mix myself. I have more time than money. If my hens like my mix maybe I'll market it at $3/oz in a plain paper sack and I'll be rich rich rich! ; )

Zero smell
I purchased this hoping--due to advertising--it would be a good mix for adding to the dog bed refill, and for setting out in the RV as a natural alternative to potpourri or air fresheners.. Reading the ingredients, it seemed like the right combination of herbs and aromatics to do the trick. Well, when you first open the bag, it smells HEAVENLY--*exactly* what I wished for... but... beyond the bag? ZERO scent. Doesn't refresh the dog bed pine shavings nor setting it out in an open dish is there any sort of scent at all in the RV. So this is a very expensive bag of weed and flower clippings it appears. :'( Which is really too bad. Smells GREAT in the bag.

Great for my chicks
My chicks love these. I put it in their nesting box and it make it smell so wonderful. You can open the coop door a couple days later and you can still smell sweet fragrance.

Beautiful aroma!!
This smells wonderful!! I know I enjoy it, and I think my girls do too! Lol. It brings me joy to sprinkle this in the nesting boxes, sort of as a thank you to my girls for the work they do for me!!

what a wonderful smell and very pretty
Wow, what a wonderful smell and very pretty. Used it first night so my girls could have a nice smelling nesting box in the morning and boy did they like it! Egg production is up and the laying girls smell so good! Lol, I'm not sure how I ever went without it! It smells like a wonderful Summer day in the middle of Winter. Another hit out of the ballpark from Kathy Shea Mormino 'The Chicken Chick'

Makes your coop smell divine
I love this stuff. I have a coop with 10 hens and every week I replace the pine shavings on the floor and add a couple of handfuls of the herbal fusion to both the floor and the nesters. Keeps the coop smelling pleasant.
