I have been a Chalet school enthusiast since my youth. I have found them to be less formulaic than most, and are still readable, even if my maturing adulthood. They make me want to go to Tirol and Switzerland.Elinor Brent-Dyer appears to have been quite prolific, and how she kept track of all her characters and their families is remarkable. The school "ages" about 20 years throughout the series, and even when characters come and go, they are still remembered and sometimes their kids show up at the school! Most seem to enjoy popping out squads of children, and this author keeps track of how old they are--like they are real people! The triplets are the eldest children of Joey Maynard, who was the main character in the earliest books, Still prominent in the series, as she lives next door and likely part owner of the school founded by her sister.None of the girls are exactly like Jo, but instead seem to have different elements. They have different likes and personalities, but still have a bond that no one else can transcend. You have Len, the leader, and most caring. Margot the heedless, and most likely to get in bad trouble. Con, the middle, who floats in her own world, but most able to point out faults in either of her sisters. This seems to be the last book in the series that I can find in print. there is a reference in one of the chapters about "Joey's plan" that you never find out, and the ending does not happen at the end of term. I can't help but feel the loose ends. But there are shades of the future: Len is likely to become a teacher and perhaps the next headmistress of the chalet school (if she does not marry--no woman works after marriage in these books), Con will either be an actress or author. Margot will become a doctor like her father. I don't know what Mary-Lou is studying at Oxford, but I hope it too will be medicine as she seems to have the characteristics of a good one and certainly has enough personal experience to make her intrigued with curing people.Mary-Lou only appears in a letter, but the news will make great impact on her future life.

Jo's girls
The book arrived well wrapped within 48 hours. It tells of the triplets time at the Chalet School when they are in their mid-teens and defines each character well. An enjoyable read.
