Building AK pattern rifles are really not at all like building -- really assembling -- AR pattern rifles. Sure, there are more than a few videos on youtube but what you really miss are the important technical details -- sizing, dimensions, key pieces of info on fitment, etc. This book fills in the gaps between what you see on youtube and what you really need to know in order to successfully build an AK pattern rifle. The pictures are great and the text is concise and to the point.

I haven’t built any aks however it’s nice to have this book just Incase I ever buy a parts kit, knowledge is everything. It’s a high quality book, I wish it was a little smaller (but that’s just me I like everything to be pocket size lol.) However the book is easy to read, and in a world where there’s no videos on YouTube explaining the steps to build an AK, this book really comes in handy.

Very informative book, worth the money

this book has all the information it it to help you build an ak47/ak74. I have built two of them so far. When I first got this book I didn't realize there was that many steps to build one rifle. It was all really easy to under stand. I highly recommend getting this book if you are building your first ak47/74.

Background info: I will be starting my first AKM build using an already completed receiver, a slovakian virgin parts kit, and virgin barrel from akbuilder.com.PROS:-This book provides almost all the knowledge you could need for building an AKM with a (used) parts kit.-There is instruction on the finishing of an 80% receiver.-In-depth information on fitment for various parts of the AKM-Despite another reviewer's complaint, I had zero issues reading the text (tablet or PC) so I do not understand his issue.CONS:-My main issue is that this book assumes you will be purchasing the author's other book on creating the tools/jigs from the X-Ring Precision tooling system. I consider this a negative because this makes the book incomplete as a guide. However, this can be work around by using google to find the tools and instruction you need.-This book lacks instruction on how to assemble the smaller components like the rear sight. It doesn't appear terribly complicated, but identifying the parts for a newbie is not simple.I was mostly satisfied with my purchase and I think it's a good book for the average AKM builder.

This is totally great, with clear and precise technical writing (a true rarity) and fantastic quality pictures. Really glad I got it.

When building AK's everything you could ever want to know is on the internet somewhere. I got tired of hunting down what I needed, so I bought this as a reference. It's super handy to keep on my bench for quick reference.
