Awesome
Love this stuff. Used on many projects. Doesn’t smell bad and easy apply. Makes the wood look amazing. Just use thin coats or it will take a while to cure.

Easy to apply, looks great
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Fantastic stuff, easy to apply, looks great on walnut. Leaves a hard finish as well. I put 4 coats down. Sand to 220, apply, let cure, repeat 2 more times. Applied the 4th coat by wet sanding with tried and true on a white Scotch Brite pad.

High-quality varnish.
High-quality combination of pine resin and linseed oil that cures when exposed to oxygen. Be aware that curing process can take quite a long time. Three coats will take at least two weeks, and probably closer to a month, to properly cure. No fault of the product, just the nature of oil. A very natural satin finish. Ideal for tool handles.

The best, period
Absolutely hands down no other way to finish reproduction 18th century flintlocks. From Maple, walnut, cherry you name it this finish is just the way to go. I've used so many of the "modern" finishes and sealers over the years and if you are serious about quality they just suck, period. Oil varnish is historically correct, provides more protection than one can ask for and is safe for a true hand rubbed finish. Yes, takes longer to cure but again, if you know anything about anything... Thats not a problem. Truly the best way to finish wood like the can says! Wouldn't trust it on my 3k plus rifle builds if it wasn't.

Brought life back into my set of old knives!
I was feeling ashamed of the state of my steak knives' handles every time I would pull them out of the drawer. These are a set of Case "Miracl-Edge" (they spelled it just like this with no "e" in Miracle) model M254 and we received them as a wedding gift over 52 years ago. These have been good knives and they are still good knives, and along the way they were inadvertently thrown in the dishwasher on and off over the years and the wood on the handles started looked horrible. I went online a day ago and found this great woodworker's short video on how to restore your knife handles. I was so impressed with the outcome of his video, and just how easy it was to use this great product, that I used his link to purchase an 8-oz. bottle of "Tried & True". Sooooo glad I did! As you can see from the above photos, their before and after shots are truly amazing. I'm so happy with this product. Next, I'm going to heal up my Great-Great Grandma's wooden carved bread bowl from around the late 1800's.

I've seen some comments complaining about dry times and thick, sticky residue. This is only the case if you apply too much of this varnish, and if you apply it way too thick, similar to how you would paint a piece of furniture with a brush, or when using other types of finish. You have to remember that this is boiled linseed oil and pine resin - it is meant to be wiped on extremely thinly, and wiped off dry after a few hours of the resin soaking into the wood. It doesn't offer as much protection as thick polyurethane finishes, for example, or other synthetic finishes. It doesn't claim to be anything other than what it is and what it does. I love finishing bare wood with this, and I think the quality is extremely high. Just don't use it on something that is going to be battered lots.

I used this to refinish a vintage doll crib. Very easy to apply with low odour. Gave a beautiful finish.

Used it as a sanding sealer on a rosewood box, 400 grit. Dried fast, hard and water-clear. Final coat feels like silk. Wonderful old-time product that puts modern polyurethane to shame. Takes a fantastic buff. A little goes a long way.
