The Conservative Mind: From Burke to Eliot Paperback – June 25, 2013

Kirk is a "good writer" but an appalling communicator. Instead of just saying what he has to say, clearly and simply, his passages read as if they were a puzzle to be solved. Fancy words, obscure references, half-made hints and suggestions - it quickly becomes irritating.I get the feeling that Kirk wants to impress us with his intellect. But any writer that leads with his ego is in trouble, and this is a fine example.

It is literally impossible or, more precisely, worthless to review such blueprints as "The Conservative Mind". So I'd better warn my fellow non-native speakers that Kirk's language is not easily understood. I mean, the main ideas he delivers are more or less clear, but some details are really hard to catch. And, who knows, maybe the Devil himself is hiding there waiting for you.

A book about the history of conservatives written by a conservative. I learned a lot about the conservatives political philosophy and where it affected the Constitution and how far today's conservatives have strayed from their forefathers. Very educational. Even for a Democratic Socialist.

This book is very strange. It is brand new, but it doesn't contain any publisher information or publishing date. I bought it as a reference for my thesis, and I couldn't include this information. So it is no use to me. It has a wrong title as well, as the original title of this book having a subtitle "From Burke to Eliot", but I couldn't find this title anywhere. Moreover, the set style is really bad with very tiny words and close line space. There are also some typos in the book. I hate myself having already started reading it and marked with my highlighter. Otherwise I will definitely refund it. Beware, don't buy this edition. Please see attached photos, that's the only publishing information I got in the book.

[Review of the Stellar Classics edition]. A very poor quality edition. Too many typos and the print is tiny. I was attracted by the low price, but I wish I'd gone with a more expensive edition.
