An Excellent Choice
I recently purchased a number of guitar related books for my bookshelf.Though "Totally Guitar" by Tony Bacon and Dave Hunter includes pretty much everything you'd ever want to know regarding the subject of guitars, and is a truly beautiful anthology incorporating a vast wealth of information - it also happens to weigh more than a few pounds, which can make it somewhat uncomfortable (unless you have abs of steel) as an option for bedtime reading. On the other hand, "The Guitar & Amp Sourcebook" is of a perfect size for some light-reading before lights-out.Apart from a number of printing errors - which provide facts without including the applicable attached photo - it is a very well put together compendium showcasing a multitude of stunning photographic examples and interestingly informative details.Highly recommended by me to you.

Serious Fun For Gearheads
The pictures and quotes make this well worth the great price of the book. The legendary axes and guitars featured are seriously fun to read about.. Occasionally a first top quality guitar or amp is described lovingly, but no picture is accompanying it. Likewise a fairly obscure lower value instrument gets multiple pics and pages. To each his own, I guess.I understand that great priceless songs were created on lesser instruments and this book strives to really get to the mojo of great players and their axes. And, the info about manufacturers is quite accurate. A great book to have on the shelf, and the price is amazing!

Will knock your socks off!!
This is a must for any musician's library as it contains a monumental amount of historical and pictorial information. The fact that it will appeal to any guitar player, any enthusiast of our great guitar groups, as well as any person with a hanker'n to play guitar makes it a great read for all. Beautifully done and an amazing buy.

Good bible of guitars without spending a fortune
A good book. More focused in guitars tho. I thought it would describe rigs in detail but it a bit more general. Still good

The only thing that grates is the author describing a beautiful guitar, without including a photograph
The book of dreams! The only thing that grates is the author describing a beautiful guitar, without including a photograph. He does it a lot and it's infuriating - hence not the full 5 stars. Other than that, this is a real labour of love by a proper enthusiast. I still flick through it every couple of days; it's impossible to ignore.

Guitar and amp sourcebook
This book is well presented and is full of useful information and has some good pictures, it maybe rehashes information that appears in other publications too, but for those who may not have loads of guitar books already it is definately a worthwhile purchase.

great guitar and amp book
If you are interested in the history of guitars and amps or just 'into' them then buy this book. Superb colour pictures, a little more technical data would be good for me.
