Findus and the Fox (Findus and Pettson) Hardcover – Illustrated, June 29, 2009

What fun for kids and adults. So many little details to see. I am collecting ALL of his books!

This, like all Nordqvist's works is great fun for adults and kids. Our grandkids loved it so much my wife made Findus ghost costumes for both of them (with removable tails) for Christmas. The art work is supurb and leaves plenty of new things to find every time you read it. We "discovered" these treasures in Germany last summer and have purchased all that have been published in English. The hardcover may seem expensive but it is well worth it. The kids will want to read it over and over and so will you.

For many years we have checked out and reread the Festus & Mercury books by Sven Nordquist in an American English translation published by Carolrhoda books, whenever we visit the small public library in Maine over the summer. Our three boys have grown up with the tradition of re-reading them every summer, from kids to teens to now two of them in their 20's. They involve the relationship of a farmer (Festus or Pettson in the British translation)and his cat, surrounded by a variety of farm animals and little brownie-like critters. We found a British publisher is reprinting them in a slightly different translation, with slightly different names (Findus for Mercury the cat, for example)and bought several of them, including this one.They are delightful as ever, both in their text and in the very detailed and wonderful drawings,that attract careful detailed examination by young and old alike. Full of laughs and gentle irony about these two lives. Any child will love them and they are perfect read aloud. Highly recommended.

We discovered the story of Pettson and his little cat Findus with this book. It became my son's absolute favourite even though he was a bit worried about the fox at the beginning. Beautifully illustrated, morally sensitive story that gives the child a lot of enjoyable reading time. We got When Findus was Little and Disappeared, because we really love Nordqvist's stories and drawings.

Really love these books. Findus is so cute and Pettson is a lovable cat dad. Really recommend this series for any and all cat lovers.

ALL of these books are non-violent, comical for children, beautifully illustrated and treasures to keep for second generations. My granddaughters love ALL of them and ask for them for their gifts. I even enjoy the clever stories and the incredible illustrations in ALL of the "Findus" books. If you haven't already try one ... you and your children will love them!

The drawings are hilarious and the story is great. Buy it!
