I don't understand it
I like poetry and studying Chinese herbs I thought this could help me memorize easier the herbs. I don't understand it while I try my best to do so. The poets make no sense to me and don't remain associated with the plant since I don't get the core of it. Very dry. I read and read and I don't manage to get something out of these poets that makes sense to me. I didn't have the time to send the book back. Only disappointing read in a long time. From the other hand I understand the writer is very passionate about herbs and did lots of research which I admire but from the poets don't resonate at all with me.

Delightful mix of herbology and poetry
We grow some of our own herbs at home and, while we are not experts by any means, it's a lot of fun to learn more about herbology. I have been a great lover and appreciator of poetry since my youth so I was thrilled to find this book by author Alexander Lucksmith that lovingly and masterfully blends the two interests. Lucksmith shares his knowledge of herbology, listing various Chinese herbs and their uses. Beyond this, and what makes this book so special, are the haiku-style verses that are added to each entry. Such a wonderful book that gave me both new knowledge of many herbs and a new appreciation for them and their qualities. So unique and well done.

way cool to read helped in class
This was a really cool way to deliver this info. Totally better than the herb handbook I use in class. Any chance of a sequel?
