after reading the book i wrote an email to Mrs Kerr saying I would enjoy exchanging some memories
I was born in Flitwick in 1939 so the book was of special interest to me, Maureen was 4 years older than me,she was not known to me.Much of the experience, the teachers she knew, people of the village mentioned.mirror my own experience.I did not become aware of the book until quiterecently.after reading the book i wrote an email to Mrs Kerr saying I would enjoy exchanging some memories, after some delay I received areply from her daughter telling me that Maureen had been admitted to hospital the day my email arrived and sadly passed away. The book is a very personal account of her early life and is probably mainly of interest to people like myself, but it also contains some historyof the times.I feel the book was publishes directly from her notes, there are a number of errors and repetition and there was clearly little or no proof readinggoing on.Nevermind ,because of my special interest I enjoyed reading the book.If they really ate Bedfordshire clanger as often as MrsKerr says it is no wonder several of the people she mentioned died young because it is basically a suet pudding and their arteries musthave been really clogged.I would be willing to share any thoughts.Roy Arnold 02392 251 632 Flitwick resident 1939 to 1967 now in Hampshire.
